Meet Karen Huck of No Worry Furry Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Huck

Karen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I retired early from Early Childhood Education after 33 years.I still needed to make enough money to pay for insurance until I went on Medicare. I always wanted to walk dogs or be a bartender. So, dog walking it was and from there people asked if I could stay in their home while they went on vacation and it just blew up!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not really struggles but we moved from Oregon back to California after 17 years and I had to start networking and advertising again. But the business took right off.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I believe pets are part of the family and should be treated as so. Many people don’t want their dogs to be boarded, they want them to stay in their own home. at way. Many dogs and cats do better in their own homes. I come stay in the home and it really serves lots of purposes. The animal is comfortable, they can stay on their routines, and the house looks lived in. But I do other things, I can be a dog taxi, I can give medicines, water plants, take in mail, take out trash, walk dogs, go to dog park, etc….. I also do drop in care. You may just need someone to check on the cats, feed them, clean litter box, administer meds. so I can come for half an hour or three times a day. It is up to you.

I think I set my self apart from others because I’m older, am responsible, dependable, have loyal clientele who will give references and I won’t throw a party in your backyard while you”re gone.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up on a street with lots of kids on it and our parents use to say, Go play outside and come home when the street lights come on. We could go to anyone’s home and play for hours upon hours and no one worried. We’d have jack and carrom tournaments, go in anyone house to get a snack, we recreate plays and everyone would get a part. We had freedom that kids today just don’t have. I’m still friends with the two girls I grew up with.We are like sisters, and know alot about each others lives. Maybe to much. LOL!
