Meet Kara Sax of The Sax Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Sax.

The Sax Agency was created in 2012 when two friends resigned from their promised careers, moved across the country to Los Angeles and took a leap of faith in an effort to pursue an entrepreneurial journey. While strong separately, the two women realized that joining forces and utilizing their diverse skillsets could be a perfect balance and make for a strong business overall.

Kara, who serves as President and CEO of Sax Inc., brings extensive experience leading strategy, sales, marketing and digital agency operations while Tamara Keller, who leads as Chief Operating Officer of Sax Inc., holds multiple master’s degrees; bringing to the table her intense, analytical expertise and over 15 years of experience in strategic consulting and project management to her clients and her overall project approach. Originally starting off as a Production Agency, the women soon realized that they had so much more to offer and decided to act on their potential by expanding their business into a full service multidisciplinary Marketing and Advertising agency. Fast forward to five years later, their client database is now more diverse than ever, they’ve become bi-coastal with offices in both LA and NYC and numerous new arms of their agency have been developed,

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We would be lying if we said that our journey has been easy. One of our biggest obstacles has been finding employees who match both our energy and work ethic. What’s most important for us is finding individuals who understand that they can work for a larger corporation where less might be required of them and the benefits are endless, but still choose to work for our agency where you will be required to work hard, be challenged on a daily basis and will be pushed to your limit and best potential as often as possible.

We truly feel that our success is measured by our employees and for that reason we’ve spent every year since we’ve started focusing on developing our team. While we’ve certainly had successful years, we truly feel that our agency is now in a place where we have established a solid team of individuals who are truly devoted to our brand, our clients and their work. It has certainly taken us some time but we are truly thankful for the process of it all.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Sax Agency – what should we know?
The Sax Agency is a neo-corporate, multidisciplinary branding, marketing and advertising agency that merges structured business, fluid creativity and cutting-edge innovation. We believe in creating campaigns that are appealing enough to drive long-term engagement, influential enough to trigger emotion and pack enough punch to become contagious. From ideation, to strategy and then execution, we’re obsessed with equipping brands with the perfect implements to grow their business and deliver a flawless product.

We specialize in Brand Activation and Strategy, Content Creation, Experiential Marketing, Rebranding, Social Media Development, Brand Identity + Creative Design, Event Production and TV, Radio, Print, E-Marketing + Advertising.

Some of our major clients have included NBA’s Golden State Warriors, historically black college Howard University, Amber Rose and the California Housing Finance Agency. Perhaps we are most known for producing the Amber Rose SlutWalk where it started as an awareness festival three years ago and has now grown to an audience of over 18,000 people and an entire weekend of events. We advanced the 2017 Amber Rose Weekend even further by adding an academic component within our first OPENed Women’s Conference, an unconventional Women’s Conference produced in conjunction with USC Dornsife’s Center for Feminist Research where academics meets edge with unedited workshops and conversations.

We are most proud of the success we’ve achieved while still being fairly young and a small business.

What sets us apart from others is our diversity and the fact that we are an unorthodox creative agency with multigenerational and multicultural marketing at our core and a strong team of big thinkers, creatives, digital natives and storytellers focused on adding value and monetizing brands.
