Meet Kara Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Lewis.

Kara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve taken photos on cameras or my mom’s iPhones for as long as I can remember. My mindset was always artistic. I grew up expressing my emotions and creating my vision for the world through dancing, painting, and photography/videography. My industry dreams were born later when I created vlogs and content with the individuals at my dance studio. The studio owners eventually noticed my work and hired me to be their videographer. From then on, I DMed as many people as I could. Eventually, someone let me take their photos and gave me a shot. That same week, I was introduced to a content house and connected with TikTokers and influencers. The journey has been amazing, and I’m blessed to make my dreams a reality with such talented and incredible people.

Has it been a smooth road?
Most of the time. I do face the struggle of people in the industry taking advantage of my work. Because I’m female and nineteen, I’ve found that clients will try to bargain for what I create, despite me putting everything I have into my vision. I try to keep an optimistic outlook and not short-change myself.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
On Instagram, I go by “KARAXLEWIS.” I specialize in photography, videography, and editing. I love all three and the unique stories they create. I also love to find new friends during photoshoots; I make sure every client feels like they have their best friend behind the camera.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I love LA! The action is constant and I love to stay productive.
