Meet Kaleb Joseph of The Self Help Tour

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaleb Joseph.

Hi Kaleb, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I fell in love with basketball at a young age and quickly realized that life granted you more opportunities when you showed signs of talent. I leaned into that part of my identity in hopes that those opportunities would fix all of the challenges of my upbringing. By 8th grade, I received my first div 1 scholarship, by senior year of high school, I was regarded as a top 10 recruit in the country at my position. I committed to my dream school of Syracuse University and was named to the Nation Freshman of The Year Watchlist. Due to my lack of security in my identity, I struggled under the spotlight out of fear of judgment. I developed social anxiety and by my sophomore year, I was named to Sports Illustrated’s Top 10 Most Disppointing Players. Overwhelmed with shame, I unknowingly sought unhealthy forms of release, gravitating towards anything to help numb the pain and silence the chaos in my mind. Which ultimately lead me down a path of addiction. I suffered in silence for years, all throughout my college career, even as a professional athlete. While I received my degree in Healthy Lifestyle Management & Emotional intelligence as a way to make sense of my life, it wasn’t enough. Ultimately after getting the help I needed, I’ve dedicated my life to traveling the world, helping athletes learn how to identify, process and manage everything that comes with life as an athlete. Speaking to schools, working with teams and players individually as a life coach and consultant.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, it has been. The troubles I’ve faced have all been internal. Questioning my ability to make a real change, challenging my own limiting belief systems and only identity that I’ve known for so long while trying to create space for who I am today. When I get out of my own way, things seem to work out.

We’ve been impressed with The Self Help Tour, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Self help Tour is a life coaching and consulting business built to serve the mental health needs of athletes. The mission is to help athletes discover and obtain their unique version of wholeness. With an emphasis on emotional intelligence, we can increase a baseline level of self-awareness, challenge limiting belief systems, and develop a true sense of identity. Our Person > Player approach will help provide the necessary tools to navigate life’s adversities in the healthiest ways, while increasing performance in the athlete’s respective sport, allowing them to play with a newfound and sustainable freedom. We Offer private coaching, team workshops, and speaking engagements in effort to bring awareness to everything that influences mental health, from expectations, communication, performance anxiety, and identity.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Herren Wellness is where I did the life-changing work, so I’ll forever be in debt. My partner is the person who ultimately inspired me to get the help I needed which changed the trajectory of my life and made space for this business to flourish, but also all of the athletes who trusted me enough to open up to me and allow me to help guide them on their personal journey’s. My experience with them was all the confirmation I needed to know there was a real demand for the services I offer.
