Meet Justin Gordon of Just Go Grind in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Gordon.

Justin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I got my start in the world of entrepreneurship in the summer of 2012 as a personal trainer working with clients in their homes in Milwaukee. After an internship in 2013 at Fitness Quest 10 in San Diego, one of the top 10 gyms in America, I started Just Go Fitness while also working with clients at the Wisconsin Athletic Club, repeatedly ranked as the best gym in Milwaukee.

After working with clients for a couple of years, writing more than 200 blog posts for Just Go Fitness, and growing the site to more than 5,000 monthly visitors I left Milwaukee and moved to Las Vegas to work for an eCommerce company called CLARKtoys. This move gave me the opportunity to work in close quarters with an entrepreneur who started a multi seven-figure business and I eventually decided to go back to school to get my MBA so I could build my network, learn a foundation of business skills, and start a new venture.

In January of 2018, I started Just Go Grind as a blog to share insights on career paths as I tried to figure out my own direction. June of 2018, right before starting my MBA at USC, I started the Just Go Grind Podcast and shifted my focus to helping people learn how to launch and grow businesses through interviews of entrepreneurs, CEOs, and other go-getters. Since then, I’ve released more than 100 episodes, had thousands of downloads, and interviewed everyone from a professional poker player to a professional skateboarder to an entrepreneur who sold $1 million worth of online courses to the co-founder of a $100 million revenue beverage company.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all. While the Just Go Grind Podcast continues to grow, it’s been a grind day in and day out, trying to balance producing and promoting the show with being a full-time MBA student at USC.

Making the time to find new podcast guests, schedule interviews, prepare for interviews, record them, edit the shows, and promote them every week has been a challenge. To do so, I often wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning to get done all of the things I need to get done.

Please tell us about Just Go Grind.
Just Go Grind is a media company focused on sharing the stories of entrepreneurs, CEOs, and go-getters to not only provide the tactics and strategies for launching and growing a business but also supply the inspiration to take action.

What makes Just Go Grind special is the variety of guests that appear on the show. The podcast features guests from around the world, of different races and ethnicity, in different industries, and who have achieved various levels of success. This is all done on purpose, to show people the breadth of what it means to be an entrepreneur, and that success can be achieved by anyone.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I’d focus even more on engaging with listeners and finding more listeners through social media. Furthermore, I’d email more people about the show. Engaging on social media and cold emailing people has actually been a great way to grow the show and I wish I would’ve started doing more of those tasks earlier.
