Meet Justin Foster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Foster.

Justin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The very first time I tried stand up was at an open mic at the Improv in Addison, TX. I was 25 and was working as a waiter there. I became infatuated with comedy and convinced myself to try it. I wrote 3 minutes of material and after I got off stage I was hooked. I’ve been doing it ever since. I moved out to LA seven years ago to pursue it as a full-time career.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I was the only one in my family to leave Dallas so I miss them all of the time. I’ve lost relationships, missed birthdays, fought depression, been plagued by self-doubt, lived on people’s couches, slept in my car, had checks bounce from comedy clubs, been screwed over, and have stayed awake many nights wondering if I’ve made the right decision. That was just yesterday.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a stand up comedian. I get to travel around and tell jokes to strangers. It’s pretty amazing. I host a successful comedy/self-help show, “Foster the Podcast”. I also write and film sketches and host a comedy segment show, “the Justin Foster Show.”

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’ve had so many! I’ve been so proud lately at all the accomplishments I’ve made and how I’ve been able to grow as a comedian over the years. I’ve been on this crazy tour lately opening for my buddy Drew Lynch. We’ve gotten to perform all over America in huge venues, beautiful theaters, and recently off Broadway in New York! It’s a long way from where I started and it feels really good.
