Today we’d like to introduce you to June Mugo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us June. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I used to ask my dad to record the “June news” every evening when I was younger, then there were days where I would pretend shoot with an empty tissue box. It wasn’t for a couple of years later when one of my friends in the 3rd grade interviewed me at the science fair and I was taken back by the camera and what it can do. Fast forward to the 7th grade when I edited my first video on iMovie and my media teacher just looked at me and said I was a natural. Honestly, from that moment forward, every element of video making enticed me. So I began to shoot and edit music videos and started to expand my creativity by writing my own stories and turning those into visuals.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say a lack of resources. I have a great support system and with technology you can search things you’re unsure of. But cameras and a team are not cheap. But overtime, I’ve learned how to work around it.
Please tell us about Vibes by June.
Vibes by June is an organization that takes a story and brings it to life. Vibes by June specializes in video, picture, brand building and storytelling. As the founder, my biggest goal for my clients or audience is for them to catch a vibe, and become a part of the story. Honestly, that is what sets us apart from others, it’s deeper than just a movie or a video, the work puts you in a position to become apart of the story to feel the energy of the story. I’m most proud of the support, because without a strong support system, the foundation of the company is weak, and there’s almost no purpose.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
One of the biggest shifts that are taking place is the work being executed, it’s only getting better. Over the next couple of years, I see the company expanding greatly, and providing opportunities for young creatives to also find their voice.
