Meet Julien Elizabeth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julien Elizabeth.

Julien Elizabeth

Hi Julien, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been teaching and coaching full-time since 2013. After studying holistic nutrition and Traditional Chinese Medicine, I began a private coaching practice along with teaching yoga and seeing clients throughout Los Angeles. In the early years, I hustled, saying yes to any opportunity available to teach, share, and learn from as many different humans as I could.

This has been the single most refining factor to my career: try everything, keep it moving, and be willing to change it up.

In 2017, I found yoga nidra, a tool that helped me move through deep grief and gave me access to a sense of self-belonging and safety I hadn’t experienced before. I trained and dove very deep into the practice, along with Kundalini Yoga and astrology. My perspective on just about everything shifted at this time and I was very much on my own soul journey, exploring culture, soul, and psyche through indigenous rituals and ceremonies throughout South America, Europe and Asia. Around the same time, I shifted my focus to support humans around spirituality, consciousness and depth, which felt more authentic to my own studies and impact.

My work is most influenced and inspired by the stars and planets, dance and movement, Carl Jung and his students, nature and the fluidity of my greatest teacher, the breath.

I’ve watched my work and the healing world evolve significantly in ten years and if you had told me I would be working with astrology and consciousness in such an impactful way I might not have believed you. Now it’s clear these modalities are inseparable from how I see and experience the world.

That said, I can best be described as practical yet soulful, earthy and ethereal, serious and witty, playful and mature. I differ in a hundred ways and I am very, very human.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sitting in the seat of the teacher, sharing my heart vulnerably with the world, and choosing to unapologetically orient life to my core values has required a lot of courage. Most of what has led to my success is a direct result of my self-work to know myself to be willing to let it all change and grow in new and unexpected directions.

My focus has always been to deepen my own journey so that I can be of service to myself and those I am meant to serve. This desire has led me around the world studying, teaching, and sharing in training, with private clients and on retreats. While this has been incredible and profound, it has also been quite lonely at times and required me to make difficult sacrifices and decisions to stay authentic with my mission and spirit.

I believe the yogic path is a warrior path full of difficult lessons and soul initiations. In doing this work, I’ve been called on to surrender over and over and over again. I decided very young I wasn’t willing to abandon myself or close my heart to get ahead and I feel really grateful to say it has never led me astray (for too long).

I’ve learned that I need a lot of space, rest, and creativity — in nature, in my notebook, and in my daydreams. I think our modern world can make non-doing very difficult, especially in a city with the ambition, drive and cost of LA — this has definitely been a long learning journey but I can say with honor that I’m prioritizing myself as an artist and creative more than I ever had and it’s bearing fruit in my life profoundly!

What I love about my journey right now is how I am evolving into it. I am finding so much joy and inspiration in my work and in the life I’ve been nurturing post-pandemic. I am grateful to be surrounded by so many strong and inspiring humans who have become teachers, students, friends, and family. This is the greatest gift that makes it all worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Rather than choosing one niche or one modality, it’s important to me to prioritize service to my clients and offer what is most fitting as it arises. I strive to follow my own inspiration so that I can continue to grow and serve. This is why my offerings have continuously evolved yet stayed tethered to a similar thread.

At this current moment, I am a full-time teacher, coach and writer. In all the ways I serve, my work centers on supporting humans through spiritual transition so that they can live authentically connected to the call of their souls. I help people gain perspective on their stories, overcome false beliefs, shift the limitations of their minds, open up to new possibilities and take action.

I feel so blessed that my job is to share insight and listening space for people to become a version of themselves they deeply love. I get to connect with the most incredible people doing this and it is an ever-present reminder that at the core, we are all so intelligent, creative and loving.

I incorporate astrology and the frameworks of yoga significantly in my work and connect much of how I teach to notable planetary transits to be most impactful for my students and clients.

Right now, you can find me sharing yoga and yoga nidra at Love Yoga in Venice, leading 2-3 retreats a year, writing and sharing astrology via my blog and Instagram, or working directly with clients through private astrology sessions, coaching programs, and my annual yoga nidra teacher training.

Throughout the year I offer shorter group programs and experiences to tap you into the astrology and connect you to your soul’s whisper. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements coming in Fall 2023!

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up, I was playful and observant, finding myself most nourished deep in books, writing, wandering in the wilderness, and creating worlds of fantasy on my own. Curiosity and self-reflection have always been an aspect of my personality and I have notebooks of poems, insights, and reflections from a very young age. I laugh reading these sometimes — they seem quite mature to come from the pen of such a young girl.

A dear friend and I would create the most wild characters and stories together, passing chapters off to each other in between classes. I loved taking songs and re-writing lyrics, making up secret languages and seeing how far I could push the edge of truth in my imagination.

As I’ve come to know astrology and observe cycles of time in a more nuanced way, I see this was all a part of my destiny — I have four planets in Virgo in the most self-reflective part of the astrology wheel, my Capricorn moon lives in the 8th house, known for its depth and keen skill of observation and these aspects and all others are pinned to a Gemini rising — the messenger, writer, and trickster known for curiosity and riddles.
