Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Santucci.
Hi Julia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Yes, happy to and thank you for sharing my story!
I recently spoke to a class of eight years old about what an eco-friendly Halloween looks like, when their teacher (who was my teacher at that age) shared a memory of when myself and a few others really banded together to create a song around earth day(apparently I was happily in charge of recycling paper for the class too). I completely forgot about this yet it made sense as only a few years later, I threw on rollerblades and decided to pick up trash around my NJ neighborhood alone, haha. Cut to a decade later living in NYC and revisiting the same pain as I saw trash all over the streets. The idea sparked to create a fun trash pick-up group, however it didn’t happen until I was living in San Francisco years later and joined The Clean Mission. Teaming up with the founder, Jeff Winkle, I brought in eco-conscious partnerships/sponsors and was named the COO. This work awakened my awareness to how many incredible brands were going the extra mile to be stylish AND green. These brands and leaders were so inspiring I strongly realized I have to support them.
I created Go Emerald Green to do exactly that. By shining a spotlight on cool eco-conscious brands showing a Green lifestyle can easily be integrated and look good! After seeing how much work had to be done, I left my 9-5 and moved to Los Angeles to go full force. Today, I am an eco-friendly lifestyle consultant and Go Emerald Green is an official business. My goal is to help beginners learn how easy it is to consciously integrate Green practices while also saving them some money! I do this by partnering with eco-friendly brands, creating content on easy Green tips and speak to companies on Sustainability 101, breaking down climate change into bite size nuggets while supplying a few new habits to their routine for a more positive impact. In fact, I share some tips where simply consuming less and wearing what you already own can have a huge impact on reducing one’s carbon footprint, for example. My motivation is the group of people who take time from their day to learn these tips, they are the inspiration that keeps me going. Also, I wouldn’t have come this far if it wasn’t for the true support of my incredible community and new connections who are genuinely willing to supply advice and help however they can to someone they only just met, I am unbelievably grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Haha, this journey has not been a smooth road but challenging and exciting, yes. My mission has stayed the same, bringing awareness to more mindful habits and the ‘why’ we all should integrate a few Green habits, but the ‘how’ to do this keeps evolving. Also, as this is a new path there is no roadmap to follow so I learn from everywhere and everyone that I can. The current struggle is figuring out how to curate the best pitch to get brands to bring me in for one hour and how to figure out which companies would be the best fit. Really the answer is we all need to edit our habits and routines, but the obstacle is executing on the momentum. I think only then will people start to follow suit, however I am seeing more and more people curious on how to do better for the planet and people.
As you know, we’re big fans of Go Emerald Green. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Go Emerald Green is a business I created to help teach the eco-curious beginner on how to start easily integrating eco-conscious habits into their daily lives. As an eco-friendly lifestyle consultant, I supply a bite-size breakdown on what is: climate change and how tweaking only a few of our habits can make a huge impact and actually reduce global warming. Connecting the dots, for the eco-curious or average person, on how your choice to buy plastic bottled drinks leads to child starvation in undeveloped countries. Sadly, that is not an exaggeration. The tips I offer are nothing new, I clear up the messy noise around ‘Green’ and give a clean path to success, making eco-living much easier and more sustainable to do. I also offer tricks and resources on how to confirm which brands are legit and doing a great eco-conscious job! The Good Trade online publication and Good on You app are two of my go-to’s, also Good Morning America recently started two incredible segments called ‘This Green House’ and ‘Saving Tomorrow’ for tips. Call me! I’m available 😉 People come to me frequently asking for eco-tips or with questions on how they can do better for the environment. My energy, clarity and relatability set me apart. My method of sharing this information is important as I feel we have short attention spans as it is and that I only have a limited amount of time to get these points across in a fun, engaging and clear way. Services offered range from speaking engagements for schools, companies and TV shows to content creating for brands on eco-tips and from eco partnerships to consulting for more eco-friendly swaps in a home or office, the day to day. Interested in hearing more tips? Connect me with your HR Director, CSR Director or Social Impact team. We can set up an hour that will transform how your team/employees understand how to live Green outside of the workplace as well as within.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always looking to partner up!! Collaborations are brilliant as we are stronger together. I absolutely love bringing awareness to brands that go the extra mile for the planet and the people. Always open to ideas and suggestions on ways to get the information out there in front of as many eyes as possible, I believe mainstream avenues is where to focus right now. Support for Go Emerald Green would be connecting me with a company or brands contact that hires speakers or the partnerships team. My website (https://www.go-emeraldgreen.com/contact) is one way to find me or setting up a call with this link https://calendly.com/goemeraldgreen. Instagram as well https://www.instagram.com/julia_t_santucci/. I am open-minded to ways to support eco-conscious brands and get more people on the eco-living train. People want to do better, I believe they simply just don’t know how, we need the education to be more visible and clear.
