Meet JROC Craig and Ryan Labbe of Clique Hospitality

Today we’d like to introduce you to JROC Craig and Ryan Labbe.

JROC and Ryan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The both of us have worked in various positions in nightlife for over ten years, starting at the bottom and making it all the way to the top of the nightlife business.

Ryan on the east coast and JROC on the west coast. When we formed our partnership, we had mutual respect for our accomplishments and similar goals and mindset for our future. We complement each other well.

We have different strengths and ways in which we do things, but at the end of the day, we get the job done.

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting any business isn’t easy, and we have had some trial and error for sure. Our first brick and mortar project was a restaurant bar off the strip in which we invested our own money into. Going through the entire process from concept to finish, we learned a lot of what to do and what not to do.

The concept was strong, the team was strong, and the location seemed to be a winner. In the end, some mistakes were made and had to call it quits after a year and a half. Some of these mistakes were in our control, some out of our control. It was a lesson learned, and the failure only pushed our growth.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Clique Hospitality story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a hospitality management company, owning and operating multiple venues in various states. With each project, we manage everything from top to bottom.

From design, marketing, operations, strategy, hiring/firing, and VIP services–we do it all.

We’ve been focusing on smaller venues and creating unique spaces that are about the people in the room and the experience that comes with it.

Our current main focus is on our spots in San Diego–Lionfish, Oxford Social Club, The Pool House, and In Vegas–Apex Social Club and Camden Cocktail Lounge at Palms Casino Resort and Clique Bar & Lounge at The Cosmopolitan.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Our partner Andy Masi has definitely mentored the both of us and was the first one to fully believe in our abilities. Together we have opened multiple venues and have no signs of slowing down.

Along the way, we have been lucky to have such amazing support and relationships with other nightlife moguls such as Andrew Sasson, Jesse Waits, Jason Strauss, Alex Cordova, Sean Christie, and more. All these operators have done amazing things in the nightlife industry, and we have learned a thing or two from each of them.
