Meet Joshua Mazalian of JAM Sports and Spine Physical Therapy in Los Angeles and North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Mazalian.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Joshua. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I realized I needed to start my own practice early on in my career. I wanted to work with patients in the most optimal setting, one-on-one. I joined ProEx Performance in Los Angeles initially and was able to expand to the Valley in North Hollywood in the new L.A. Sports Performance Institute when I saw a demand for good, quality rehabilitation care. I treat each patient as they are family and focus on getting them better as fast as possible. Being in pain or having a surgery can be frustrating and I try to provide the best possible experience.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I failed initially when I tried opening my practice. I had no business experience. I had focused on becoming an expert in my field early on and only after becoming a specialist did I try and really learn how to run a healthcare practice. I was lucky to learn from a colleague of mine, Dr. Chris Bernier, who showed me the ins and outs of running a clinic the right way.

Please tell us about JAM Sports and Spine Physical Therapy.
JAM Sports and Spine Physical Therapy is a place where we try and avoid surgery. We take the most difficult cases because we enjoy figuring out why individuals have pain and dysfunction. We specialize in movement including bio mechanical analysis. We use a hands-on approach to fix the dysfunction and restore proper movement back to the individual. We are known for our individualized approach. No two patients will get the same treatment. Our one-on-one treatment approach is disappearing in the healthcare community, but we have committed our practice to make sure people get the treatment they deserve. No less.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing. I’m fortunate to have made the right choices and enjoy what I’m doing, where I’m doing it.
