Meet Joshua Hewitt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Hewitt.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Amarante is an indie alternative artist from Southern California. We formed on July 25, 2011 and have since generated over 6.3 million plays on SoundCloud and 2.8 million views on YouTube.

With the growing fan base much thanks to YouTube; Amarante has reached a worldwide audience in places such as France, Mexico, UK, Russia, Canada, Australia, Italy and in the USA.

Amarante has self-released 5 albums and 2 E.P.s and are currently at work on a 6th album.

Please tell us about your art.
I create music that I feel describes how I see the beauty and horror of the world. The main feeling I’d really like people to take away is a sense of wonder when they look into the great unknown. Equal parts fear and joy when setting out into the adventure that is their life.

I love to use independent artists for the artwork of our albums.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
This has often been a struggle and a challenge for myself. My only advice is to work hard at the time you have. If you need to spend 60% of your day at work to pay the bills, then expect to spend that other 40% on your art. The more love you give your art, the more likely it’ll be appreciated.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Not only can the music be heard but also seen as I have been creating music videos to all of the latest releases. Youtube.com/amarantemusic is a great place to see and hear all our work, as well as Soundcloud.com/amarantemusic
