Meet Josh Myers of Media City Tax Group in Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Myers.

Josh, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been saturated in accounting all my life; both of my parents are CPA’s. Growing up in Prescott Valley, AZ I watched my parents work hard at their home office, building their business while holding on to their values, all the while going above and beyond for their clients. Seeing their dedication and their drive gave me a solid foundation for how I wanted to run my business. I began helping my parents when I was 14 years old, So when it was time for college I naturally went into accounting.

Growing up watching my parents successfully run their own business, gave me the confidence to start out on my own.

It was a big step, but ultimately the best decision of my life.

My wife, Cara, and I are able to continue the tradition my parents started of hard work, and a value driven work ethic, all to give our clients the best possible service.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a relatively smooth transition from working for someone else to being self-employed.

There are always the scary questions you ask yourself- the what if’s and the doubts. But we pushed past any trepidation we had, because we knew that owning our business is what we wanted. And watching my parents do it gave me confidence for that leap of faith.

Media City Tax Group is an innovative full- service accounting firm. What that means is we do everything from personal and business taxes to payroll, financial planning, and we’ve even helped a few of our clients during the loan process to buy a home. We truly want to help our clients any way we can, it’s what sets us apart from other accounting firms. We grew up in a small town and that desire to help our neighbors so we can build a better community is deeply rooted in us and it shows in everything we do.

We are an innovative company because a lot of our work is cloud based. It’s something our clients truly love because they’re always traveling or living in other areas of the country. Of course, we still have a few old-school clients that we cater to as well, but the majority of our clients are moving towards a more cloud-based company.

We’re most proud of our clients and the community we’ve built with them. We have a diverse range of clients from churches, farmers, and actors, to multi-million dollar companies.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The people are the best part of the city! We learn so much from everyone we meet. Also, it’s amazing how huge of a city Los Angeles is, but somehow everyone is connected and have worked with or know each other.
