Meet Joseph Morrison of Los Angeles, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Morrison.

Hi Joseph, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m half British, half American, and grew up on a farm in Tennessee. I originally studied acting on a scholarship, which is how I got introduced to film and design. I started freelancing in art direction while living in the UK, taking on small creative projects and figuring things out as I went. Eventually, that led to a full-time role in LA, and I’ve been working across creative and cultural spaces ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges has been being seen as the “multi-tool”—someone who can do a lot of things well, which often means others profit more off my range than I do. I’ve had to learn how to protect my time and value in spaces that reward specialization but rely on generalists to keep things moving. I also can’t stand not understanding why something works—or doesn’t—so I tend to obsess over it until I figure it out, for better or worse. That trait has helped me grow quickly, but it’s also led to burnout when I’ve taken on too much just to prove a point. Over the years, I’ve realized that the things that push me furthest are pretty simple: honesty, follow-through, and someone telling me something’s impossible. That last one’s usually what gets me moving the fastest. I’ve dealt with slow starts, competitive noise, funding friction, and being underestimated more times than I can count. But those moments have sharpened how I work and who I work with. If something doesn’t sit right, I fix it. And if the door doesn’t open, I usually build another way in.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a creator and creative strategist working at the intersection of storytelling, tech, and culture. I got my start at 10K Projects, helping artists build their brands and connect with real audiences—beyond just the algorithms. I’ve worked with artists with more plaques than could fit on my walls forsure. From there, I co-founded SurelyWork, which has helped funnel millions of dollars in jobs to independent creatives, and is now pivoting into something even sharper. I also started a record label called Prairy, built around the idea that artist development should feel personal, experimental, and long-term. My own creative work lives mostly in the design, travel, and culture space—collaborating with brands I actually like and making content that doesn’t feel like an ad. I think the best storytelling happens when you mix strategy with intuition and leave a little room for surprise. I’m interested in building systems that make good taste scalable—whether that’s through new tech or just better workflows. My projects usually start with a gut feeling and end with a spreadsheet. Right now, I’m focused on helping artists and brands move smarter, look better, and feel more human online. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of what I know a community can be- across all my verticals.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there’s one thing that gets left out in conversations like this, it’s the people. Beyond my background, my work, or the obstacles—I’m here because of the ones who believed in me when I didn’t, who told me to keep going, and sometimes pushed me off the ledge knowing I’d find a safe way down. I’m nothing without the people who picked me up when I’ve fallen, especially my parents, who taught me what it means to work hard and what it means to do right by people. I genuinely love humans—even if I’m a bit of a hermit—and I wake up every day feeling lucky to be around them. I’ve been given a life I don’t want to squander. And in an industry like this, where it’s easy to lose yourself, having people around you who remind you who you are is everything. I’ve had that. I still have that. And I’ll probably spend the rest of my life trying to repay it.
