Joseph Brooks is a music artist from New York who moved to Los Angeles four years ago. Since then, he has been deeply entrenched in the music industry. In addition to having his own music artist project, he is also an audio engineer and music producer. This year, he established an exclusive recording studio called “Red Velvet Studio,” working with influencers, songwriters, and up-and-coming music artists to professionally record and produce their music.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One struggle that I have encountered is the search to find my circle of friends at first. Finding genuine and authenticity amidst the facade often associated with Hollywood can take some time. It’s been a journey to identify artists who prioritize artistry and aren’t only doing music to try to be cool but really have something to say. However, through perseverance and determination, I’m happy to say that I have been able to cultivate a community where authenticity is respected. It’s incredibly rewarding to collaborate with artists who share a sincere love for music and a commitment to creating meaningful art that resonates with listeners.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a music artist and songwriter, as well as a music studio owner. I am most proud of my ability to believe in myself and to continue to go after my goals.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Living in the Mid-Wilshire area, it’s very central in LA, not only helps me avoid the notorious traffic but also allows me to soak in the city’s fascinating architecture and design. I’ve always had a thing for postmodern, mid-century, and Art Deco buildings that pepper the landscape here. There’s something about the mix of styles that really captivates me, especially the postmodern twists and mid-century vibes that give LA its unique character. Every time I step out, I find myself inspired by the cool architecture around me—it’s like a constant reminder of the creativity and innovation that LA embodies.
