Meet Jorge Contreras of Jorge The Mentor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Contreras.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jorge. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Orange County, CA. Born to Mexican immigrants who sold drugs my entire childhood.

When my parents were not home, my siblings and I would sell the drugs, it was normal and you don’t know what you don’t know. My dad was also an alcoholic and when I turned 12 he passed away from cirrhosis.

I had a very difficult upbringing but I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for the challenges. I somehow attracted help and guidance at a young age. I attracted my first Mentor shortly after my fathers passing, Mr. Parcel, my substitute teacher.

He said, “Jorge, you don’t have to repeat the patterns that you experienced growing up, you can change your life and set a new standard for your siblings and you can change the world!” I believed him and slowly I began making changes. By age 16 I had a minimum wage Job and was renting a room and fully independent. That’s when I learned how to be responsible and independent.

I graduated high school with 4 F’s and 1 D, I just made it. It wasn’t that I was slow or a dummy, I simply was too creative and determined to do things how I envisioned and I didn’t fit in the educational “box” system.

I dropped out of college at 20 and started my first business traveling the world as a professional bachata Latin dancer and instructor:
-At age 24 I became a homeowner
-At age 27 I retired my mother
-By age 28 I had traveled to 25 countries as a successful Dance entrepreneur with 8 Million Views on YouTube Videos (Jorge Contreras Bachata)
-By Age 30, today, I’m happily married, Vegan, own multiple homes in CA, own a short-term rental (Airbnb) business, a Real Estate Investment Company and teach online courses in Personal Development & Business.

Jorge The Mentor – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What sets me apart is that I can relate to the struggles of a lot of people. If you grew up surrounded by alcohol, drugs, domestic violence (dad to mom) gang affiliations, etc then I can relate to you and show you what’s possible. It’s not about the past, it’s about what you do to create a new life and a new journey such that you empower and inspire those around you.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by two markers.

1. Be happy and grateful where you are now, no matter the situation. If we learn to be grateful for what we DO HAVE then we can attract more of it.
2. Always be growing! If you are not growing, you are dying. Have a vision, goals and a POA (plan of action) to accomplish your goals. Lastly, WIN in ALL the areas of your life: health, love, family, relationships, finances, and career/business. Don’t focus on only one area, to win, you must win everywhere.
