Meet Jonnie LoFranco of BREAD Artisan Bakery in Santa Ana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonnie LoFranco.

An Orange County native, Jonnie grew up with a love of sunshine, the ocean and fresh, natural food. Her father, the family gourmand, dreamed of bringing an authentic old-world artisan bread to Southern California. His vision was realized when he formed our first bakery in 1995. When he passed away, Jonnie ended her career in advertising to carry on his dream. In 2010, BREAD artisan bakery was born.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I believe we were very fortunate to have started BREAD just as the artisan bread movement was cresting. I met an incredible french baker who is now a partner in BREAD and his beautiful breads made it a much easier sell. Running a food manufacturing facility in California has been the biggest challenge but we have been blessed with amazing people who have helped us navigate these waters. I feel very grateful.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about BREAD Artisan Bakery – what should we know?
We bake all-natural, artisan breads fresh every day and deliver them to our wonderful bread partners. The product speaks for itself and people love it. But I am most proud of the culture we have created here at BREAD as well as our loyal customers. We pride ourselves on customer service and believe fully that you get back what you give. We are all in this together!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My Dad, Bob Peckham. It was his idea originally to open an artisan bakery in 1995 which he did and ran, successfully, until his passing in 2001. I fully believe that his spirit and passion continues to guide us today. And of course, my incredible baker, Yannick Guegan, who puts love in every loaf!
