Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Aumentado.
Jonathan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always been artistic growing up and actually specialized in portraiture while in high school. The eyebrows were always one of my favorite things to draw and I loved how impactful they were to the overall structure of the face. I was introduced to Microblading through a friend and automatically knew it was something I could do well. I was a respiratory therapist and began Microblading on the side, but quickly fell in love with how it allowed me to express my artistic abilities – I had been so out of touch with it since completing high school and had almost forgotten how much I loved the creative process. The happiness it brought me made it easy to share the excitement with my clients and I think that has been a huge key to why I’ve found such success with it. Find something you love doing and it won’t feel like work!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say it definitely has it’s difficult moments, but it has been such a joyful experience overall. My main goal with it was to give back to my mother and help her the way she has helped me all these years. Knowing now that I’m in a position to do that for her motivates me through every hardship. When I started the industry was not as developed as it is now, it was very “sink or swim” for the individuals pursuing it. We did not have the references artists have and we had to make mistakes and learn from them in order to succeed. The thing about this service is that each individual who walks through the door is unique in their own sense and there are so many things to take into account in terms of; skin type, lifestyle, aftercare, diet, and so much more – although I’ve managed to learn how to approach most cases, I’m still faced with new ones every day! It’s a challenge, but one that I’m happy to face.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Perfect Frame story. Tell us more about the business.
Perfect Frame is a specialized beauty studio that focuses exclusively on eyebrow enhancements. Instead of being a jack of all trades we really wanted to hone in on something and do it exquisitely. The thing I’m most proud of about our company is how diverse our clientele is – I truly believe we have the widest range of clients in terms of age, gender, and skin type. With this diversity comes experience and knowledge on how to cater to every situation. We do not believe in a “one brow fits all” approach and believe our portfolio speaks to our ability to create unique experiences. One thing that really sets us apart is our large male clientele – this is something that is unique to us and something we haven’t seen at any other studio. Of course, we aren’t the only ones who do men’s brows, but I can confidently say we’re the only ones with number of male clients that we have.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am so lucky for the experiences I’ve had thus far. I think a lot of the opportunities we’ve had have been a result of producing exceptional work, but being in the right place at the right time definitely helps.
