Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Paddio.
Johnny Paddio was born in Erlangen, Bavaria Germany to military parents but later raised in South Central Los Angeles, California. “I knew at a very young age that my heart was in entertainment!” Growing up in the “hood” with its disadvantages and obstacles and in and out of homeless shelters for part of his adolescent years, music and acting quickly became an outlet for young Johnny who loved singing in church coming from a family of contracted gospel soul singers. Drama class in elementary would then introduce him to the world of acting, where his teacher saw a passion for the Arts in him and later helped him land his first agent (Daniel Hoff) at the young age of 15 filming his very first international commercial (soon after) for UK’s popular Sugar Puff’s Cereal brand. A visit to 30 different cities in France with the Crenshaw High School Elite Choir on a music review tour also at the age of 15 further inspired and motivated this young artist to continue building this dream in entertainment.
A year touring Europe at the age of 21 in the musical production of Hair, as well as completing a full run performing in LA Opera’s production of Porgy and Bess soon after has truly expanded this young performer in show business. Johnny has also had his share of performing in various singing groups as well as a solo artist. Alongside stage work, Johnny Paddio has been featured in national spot commercials and numerous print ads for McDonald’s, Sprite, Coors Light, Verizon Wireless, New Balance, Coca-Cola, Bank of America (etc.) to name a few. Johnny has earned a Bachelors Degree in TV/Film 2006 from California State University, Los Angeles where he received a Dean’s List award for high academic achievement. He also minored in Music where he received three years of professional classical vocal training and technique (ongoing) that has truly expanded his vocal ability, range, and knowledge of voice. Johnny Paddio also has a deep passion as a writer and looks forward to sharing his creative projects to the world soon.
Please tell us about your art.
I love to sing, act and create as a writer. While growing up and developing a strong passion for the Arts, I realized that I was gifted with certain talents and that there was a greater purpose for me in the Arts. It was bigger than me! I always had a love and genuine interest in people wanting to inspire everybody to follow their dreams never giving up. There was a deep desire in me to connect with people all over the world (through my gifts) to not only help them and connect with them emotionally on a deeper level, but also to inspire them to live out there truest dreams by showing them. I really wanted to inspire other young kids like myself coming from the same inner city hoods and troubled environments who may not have had the support or tools to even be able to dream bigger. I remember feeling really great about being able to travel back and forth to Europe at a young age performing and doing what I love being that example for them like “Hey you can believe in yourself and dream big too! I come from the same place as you with many obstacles but the fact that I kept believing in myself and going for the passion in my heart made a world of difference!” To be able to show them with my actions and the feeling i got from that, it became clear to me that I want to do more of this and for the rest of my life.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I define success by being able to tap into the true passion in your heart like what keeps your heart beating, your purpose and going for that no matter the costs or how long it takes! You will know it’s for you and a passion of yours when you can’t stop thinking about it. No matter how many times you try to give up or give in to the pressures of the world when things get rough and you’re tested, the universe will always redirect you back around to it somehow giving you no choice but to pursue it! True qualities that are essential to success for any passion and dream (I believe) is perseverance, resilience, willpower, self-discipline, and extreme dedication!
