Today we’d like to introduce you to John Pratt.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In College, Rockford University in Illinois is where I recognized my passion for music. I started writing little journal entries in my phone talking about my day. From there, I got a job to buy me a computer to record my thoughts out loud. After I graduated with a bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science, I moved back to LA and I got a job working for the Post Office. During my time at the post office I used to continue to write my entries in my phone. This time it was in forms of different poems. One day some guy in his early 60’s sat down next to me during our lunch break and asked me “What was I going to do with my life?’ He told me if I was you, I would go out and explore the world instead of being stuck in at work miserable for the next 30 to 40 years. I took his word for it, quit my job with the Post Office and went back to school. This time in Mesa Arizona where I would attend the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences. There I learned how to record and construct music. I finally learned how to put my thoughts down for the world to hear. I also learned how to produce and record others. After being out of school for a year, I’ve worked with over a dozen artists within the music industry and I’m opening up my very own recording studio in the next few months called the Mental Wealth Recording Studio.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Everything is not easy. My biggest struggles had to be losing the closet people in my life either to death or the jail system. This led me to strive for my biggest dreams all alone. While I’m on my path, I’ve had to learn there isn’t too many people that would give in to my ideas and be by my side. I’ve had one song go to a popular DJ in LA on 92.3 to having a hard time market my music. But I never quit because I feel like everyone has a purpose and only when I’m creating is where I feel connected to a higher being and where I feel my purpose. After being knocked down too many times, I have learned to look at myself as a business instead of just an artist. I’m building a brand.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jae Anthonie – what should we know?
This year under this new normal of this pandemic, I’ve learned how to make money at home. I started my own cooperation under the name JonyBam Inc. Under this business, I offer several services. I specialize in Graphic Arts, Audio Engineering, Video Editing and Music Production. Even though I’m known for my own music, I also help create and imagine for others and their careers. I’m proud that I was able to go from not knowing what to do with my life to starting a business when times got hard. One thing that sets me apart from others is I create everything myself from Scratch. I make the beats. I write the music. I record the song. I make the cover artwork. I record and edit the videos. I’ve never known someone down the street to do it so I learned how to do all of these things myself so if someone didn’t show up for work that day, the show never stops moving.
