Meet John McKernan of Chapel Hats

Today we’d like to introduce you to John McKernan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us John. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We started with an idea that shopping should be customer service oriented and fun! Hats are a great accessory and easy to play around with. With this in mind, we wanted to cater to our customers in an environment that is open, friendly, and high energy! Our first start was in Canada, and we then expanded to the United States, bringing style and customer service to Hawaii, California, Florida and Minnesota!

We now have 16 locations total, and are always looking to grow. Chapel Hats is always reaching for the best we can offer, wherever we may be.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have definitely been some struggles, as any newer company would encounter, along with typical growing pains. However, we have always worked to stay positive and learn from what we’ve got going on. This is why we are the company we are today!

Please tell us about Chapel Hats.
We specialize in headwear, both in modern styles, like snapbacks and beanies, and vintage-inspired pieces. Chapel Hats also carries a wide variety of high fashion steampunk top hats and derby hats. We strive for the ultimate combination of vintage classics with a modern twist.

We stand out because we make every visit an experience, and we know headwear like the back of our hand! There is a perfect hat for everyone, and our associates are involved in every step of the process to find it. We are most proud of the customer experience we provide and the knowledge our teams have to offer.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
When it comes to online presence (Social media manager answer), I would say starting out earlier. It feels like we’re playing a little bit of catchup when it comes to social media and web presence. We are currently working on upgrading our current website to something that is going to be bigger and easier to use to hopefully have the capability to grow with us. So we won’t be set back for long!
