Today we’d like to introduce you to MC Daniel CY & DJ JP.
MC CY & DJ JP, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
MC CY- I had MC’d various events starting from when I was in college. After coming out to LA for the entertainment industry, I somehow fell into MC-ing events professionally and it turned out to be a good fit with the skills that I had attained in the industry.
DJ JP – I have always enjoyed mixing and mashing up songs since I was in high school. It wasn’t until post college that I have found an outlet to share my creativity. Weddings and other corporate events has given me the opportunity to showcase this. I find it to be most rewarding when guests get into the music as much as I do. Having been in the industry for 10+ years, I collaborate with UBI-TECH INC. They offer sound/light engineering assistance, to heighten this awesome experience for the patrons.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
MC CY- It has not been a smooth road at all. I feel we are still a long way from where we want to be, but it must be one step at a time.
DJ JP – With any event, Murphy’s Law always comes into play. It is always stressful/difficult when things just magically go wrong. Prior to the event, I will go over all the preliminary details of the event with the host/hostess. I try to be vigilant and anticipate everything that could go wrong, by preparing a plan b. But, by the end of the night, the music will help everyone to forget, and enjoy in the rest of their evening.
MC Daniel CY & DJ JP – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
MC CY – So as our oh so original business title states; we are an MC & DJ that are for hire for your special event.
While our specialties are wedding receptions, we do any event that a client needs including: birthdays, corporate events, business openings, etc.
I’m proud of the fact that we try to treat all of our clients with honesty and care. Because we are honored when clients choose to book us, we treat them as the VIPs they are.
A lot of MCs and or DJs think that their way is the best and will be pretty stubborn when it comes to flexibility for an event. I like to think that we really cater to what a client wants. Sometimes we will make recommendations to a client with certain wants (I.E. when we feel something might disrupt the flow of an event), but we will ultimately do what the client wants.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
DJ JP – Success is living your life, doing what you love to do. There are only a small handful who gets to do what they love every day. I am blessed to be a part of this group.
Djing may sound simple, and most won’t understand. But, I love music. I love that I get to play/make/mix songs that get my patrons excited. I like knowing that I am playing a small role in bringing others happiness, even it’s for only a few hours of the night. This is success.
