Today we’d like to introduce you to John Capo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised here in Los Angeles and I’ve been painting watercolors for as long as I can remember. Among other watercolors I like to paint, I create my own Music Watercolor Paintings, which is actual music written across the painting.
As far as refinishing furniture and custom design and building of furniture; I’m primarily a musician and after many years of strictly doing music, I really wanted to focus on making a physical product. Music is an idea that gets created and heard, whereas furniture you can actually see and touch.
Over the years, I have worked with many custom furniture designers and honed my skills in designing and building. With each piece I create, I take the person’s design concept and combine it with my own ideas; creating pieces that complement the person’s home or office and their personal style.
I like to create furniture pieces that you don’t normally find in a furniture store; something completely original and handmade, with the client in mind, so it really belongs to them.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Basically it’s been a smooth road. There are always a few struggles when the pieces of wood don’t behave.

I started Art To Life Productions in 2005 to create artistic products. I specialize in Custom, One-of-a-kind Furniture pieces for Home, office and commercial spaces. I also offer Watercolor painting originals, prints and greeting cards. I am proud to be a small business owner and I have great clients who return and refer me to their family and friends. I think that’s what sets me apart, repeat clients and referrals. For me, that’s what being in business is all about.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I enjoy what I do very much, so I’m not really sure if there’s anything I would have done differently.
