Meet Joanna Vargas of Joanna Vargas Skincare and Salon in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joanna Vargas.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always say it was a winding road. I went to college thinking I wanted to do photography and moved to New York think that’s what I was going to do. However, as a little girl I was obsessed with products, makeup, beauty and when I realized that photography wasn’t’ the right thing for me, I went to aesthetic school because I thought I would be a makeup artist. I fell in love with giving facial, taking care of people and figuring out solutions for the problems they came in with. I love figuring out people’s skin and taking care of people.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all, but most things in life that are worth struggling for you don’t even think about the hardships. It was a learning curve to learn how to be an employer, how to be inspirational for my staff and I also had to learn a lot more about ingredients and treatments than I imagined.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Joanna Vargas Skincare and Joanna Vargas Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
I feel strongly that anyone can have great skin with the right tools. The key is to use organic products based on what the skin needs to perform at its best. Good nutrition for the skin will always yield the best skin you could ever imagine because the body assimilates natural ingredients so much better than products with chemicals. I think the look I’m known for is a woman who looks fresh and is the definition of glowing beauty. I tend to attract actresses who embrace my philosophy of health and organic beauty. Most of the women I work with have that youthful glow without turning to filler and Botox as a solution. I love that I am known for thinking outside the box. It’s that quality that made my salon successful and makes me excited about my work every single day. I’m also known for being a big fan of technology in treatments and certainly we have so many non-invasive options I don’t see any reason to resort to filler any more.
