Meet Jin Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jin Lee.

Jin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am Korean and I moved to the United States in 2003. I did not know I would become an aesthetician but since I was little I had a passion in health and beauty. I think the passion grew because when I was young I would get ill quite often so it would motivate me to look into healthy things to better myself.

I got started in Skincare when I met a man who introduced me to stone facial (also known as gua sha) and kyoung rak (Korean style massage). I became more intrigued in these treatments because I learned that the way these treatments worked was by helping remove toxins from the body and it would help improve circulation and ultimately improve stress levels, posture and give a glowing skin.

I wanted to pursue these skills professionally because I wanted to help people who have skin problems. I have been an aesthetician for about 15 years now and it brings me great joy to help my customers feel better and healthier.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve had my challenges. A roadblock I have is the language barrier. I am Korean American and English is not my strong suit so explaining technical terms in English has been challenging. I am continuing to improve my English.

Also, since I work on my own it has been difficult to meet the demand, my customers have to wait around two weeks to get an appointment with me. I have been thinking of hiring a helper.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jin Lee Skin Care story. Tell us more about the business.
My specializations are in Deep Pore cleansing, Stone facial (Gua sha) and Kyoung Rak (Korean style massage).

I am most known for Deep Pore Cleansing and Stone facial. Deep Pore cleansing is a unique treatment that I developed, this treatment penetrates your skin deeply to remove dirt, debris and tiny mites (demodex) from the skin. It will remove all of these things with one treatment. Even for those people who look like they have a clean clear skin, it will remove excess oil. My treatment is all natural, i do not use any machines but use my good old hands. Deep pore cleansing is ideal for people with dry skin, atopy, troubled skin, oily skin, acne and mites. My customers have given me great feedback on this service mostly because they leave the shop with glowing skin.

Another service I am known for and proud of is Stone facial (Gua sha). This treatment is very effective and completely natural, it helps with circulation, re-lifting and tightening by removing toxins from the lymphatic nodes. It takes several treatments to see results but believe me, the results are long-lasting. I still remember one of my customers who came to me eight years ago desperately seeking for help. She had been going to another skincare shop for a year but her skin had just gotten worse and she was suffering from it. I examined her and noticed that the toxins below her chin were not being drained properly. I treated her with the stone facial and her face improved drastically. She still comes to me for treatments and we have become like family.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I see myself expanding my business by hiring more aestheticians and helpers and eventually opening my own Skin Care shop.

I want to continue finding innovative treatments that are completely natural.
