Meet Jillian Greaves

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Greaves.

Jillian Greaves

Hi Jillian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Jillian Greaves, a Functional Medicine Dietitian and Women’s Health Specialist. I’m the founder of Jillian Greaves Functional Nutrition & Wellness, the creator of the PCOS Root Reversal Program, and cohost of the Your Body Has Your Back podcast.

Starting my own business was really motivated by a combination of two things: my experience working as an Outpatient Dietitian in an Endocrinology department at a big Boston Hospital and my experience navigating my own health journey.

While working as an outpatient Dietitian and navigating my own health challenges, the gaps in our healthcare system for how women are supported was abundantly clear. Women’s symptoms are dismissed, they’re told to go on restrictive diets, and they’re often only offered medications like birth control as a treatment option.

I wasn’t willing to accept that taking birth control to suppress hormones or “managing” symptoms with band-aid treatments were the only options for women struggling with hormone and gut-related issues.

This is what really motivated me to dig into the research on female physiology and to seek out advanced training in functional nutrition and women’s health.

These experiences changed the trajectory of my life and my career. I became incredibly passionate about women’s health and educating women about their bodies and hormones. It became my mission to support women with personalized nutrition and lifestyle interventions that allow them to take back control of their health, reclaim their confidence, and to experience life at its fullest potential.

Ultimately, I started my business as a way to provide women with the support that I wish I had access to when I was struggling on my own health journey. I started seeing clients privately on the weekends and at night after work. Within six months, I quit my hospital job and knew that I was meant to support women in truly healing their hormone and gut-related symptoms naturally.

I’ve now helped hundreds of women in my 1:1 practice and have an incredible Functional Dietitian that works with me in my business. My husband now works in the business to support operations, and I have an amazing Assistant, Client Support Specialist, and Business Manager to support the women we work with. We also run a group program, offer low-cost self-paced courses, and are working to make functional nutrition more accessible to women all over the country.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road! I’ve hit a lot of road bumps over the years – from navigating financial fears with leaving my stable hospital job to follow my dream to nearly working myself into the ground as the business expanded beyond my capacity, hiring challenges, and navigating imposter syndrome in the online space. But I wouldn’t have it any other way, and I’m incredibly grateful for the struggles I’ve experienced. These road bumps and challenges have helped me to grow as a person and a practitioner and have ultimately helped me to get even more clear on my mission, my values, and the impact I hope to have in this world.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Functional Medicine Dietitian and Women’s Health Specialist with a virtual private practice. I help women identify and address the root causes of their hormone and digestive health symptoms using advanced lab testing, personalized nutrition, supportive lifestyle therapies, and mind-body practices as the first line of intervention. I specialize in hormone and gut-related conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, thyroid issues, fertility challenges, IBS, and SIBO.

What makes my business unique is my approach. I practice functional medicine nutrition AND work to support women in developing a positive, healthy, and flexible relationship with food and their bodies. I help women to deeply understand their bodies and the way it’s communicating with them. My approach helps women break the cycle of deprivation and restriction and is rooted in supporting whole-body health.

It’s my mission to really change the landscape of healthcare for women and to put women back in the driver’s seat of their own health.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Women struggling with hormone and gut-related symptoms are often disempowered by our healthcare system. I would love for the world to know that it IS possible to significantly improve and even eliminate unpleasant symptoms like miserable or absent periods, fertility challenges, acne, eczema, and bloating naturally….without restrictive diets and without sacrificing your relationship with food.
