Meet Jewel Moore of SoulFood & SoundTracks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jewel Moore.

Jewel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
SoulFood & SoundTracks started out as nothing more than an idea about two years ago.

After an impromptu evening of food and deep music-related discussions with friends, I had the desire to bring that same genuine experience to others, and with me being a freelance event planner I knew this was something that I could execute without a shadow of a doubt.

My only goal with SoulFood & SoundTracks was to create an event for people who wanted to meet and connect with amazing people outside of the “Hollywood” club scene, an event that allows people to come as friends, yet leave as family, and not the family you tolerate around the holidays, but the favorite cousin you call just to have a good time.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When things are meant to happen, they will happen.

SoulFood & SoundTracks is an event that means a lot to me, so I couldn’t roll it out to the public until I was in the best creative space possible, it had to feel right. Once I got myself to my required creative space, everything else fell into place.

I spoke with Kathleen the owner of the beautiful Moonwater Farm in Compton, and she supported my vision 100% and agreed to let me rent her space, I met with some amazing chefs and figured how to get them onboard, and then I received a call from the amazing Abby at Quartermain Media who pitched my project to her client The Grio and now here we are today, rolling out the next SoulFood & SoundTracks Feb. 2019, working on taking it to other states and meeting some really amazing supportive people along the way.

I learned through curating this event that sometimes the only real struggle is being patient and trusting in the timing that’s meant for you. Trust the process, both, the simplest and the most difficult times of the process.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
SoulFood & SoundTracks is an intimate dinner party curated to allow guest chefs to transform your favorite songs from your playlist to your plate. It’s an event for you, essentially curated by you.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was involved in theatre, dance, cheer, etc. Creative exploration was an ample part of my childhood. Family holiday skits, musical performances, creative writing exercises, you name it, my family did it. I mean for the longest time as a child I wanted to be featured in Bollywood music videos and telenovelas, I don’t know too much Spanish so…. yeah! That should pretty much sum up who I was as a kid.

I’ve always been a social butterfly that meets new friends everywhere she goes. I was lucky enough to have my mom and aunts introduce me to a lot of really amazing things really early on, so adapting to varying environments was never an issue for me.
