Today we’d like to introduce you to Jevon Tompkins.
Hi Jevon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started in St. Louis, where I developed a deep love for media, music, and storytelling at a young age. I was the type of kid who would watch the news and mimic anchors, which eventually led to me calling myself “Anchorman Vonny” online. In 2014, during a time when my city and the world were shaken by the killing of Mike Brown, I felt a deeper responsibility to inform and uplift. That’s when I started taking media seriously.
In 2018, I launched my own platform, Blanco Tarantino TV, out of passion and necessity. It started as a simple blog but evolved into a full-blown brand covering news, music, film, interviews, and community voices. I’ve interviewed artists, covered major events, and used my voice to give attention to stories often overlooked. I also built my photography brand, Blanco Picturesque, which allowed me to cover concerts and capture legendary moments with artists like Sexyy Red, Monica, Lil Meech, and more.
Now, I’m a student at the Los Angeles Film School studying Media Communications, with a 4.0 GPA and a mission to elevate even higher. I’ve been featured through °1824 (UMG) press access, and my goal is to take my talents to Los Angeles full-time and continue building platforms that merge journalism, creativity, and purpose. I represent the underdogs—the people who don’t always get a seat at the table—and I’ve made it my mission to build one for us.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth. I’ve faced everything from financial setbacks to mental health battles while chasing my purpose. One of the biggest challenges I continue to fight is my health—I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and it’s been a constant journey of discipline, healing, and faith. Managing a chronic illness while building a brand, working full-time, and going to school isn’t easy, especially when you don’t always have a strong support system behind you.
I’ve also battled with depression, anxiety, grief from losing loved ones, and even past addictions. There were nights I cried silently and days I wanted to give up completely. But every time I got close to quitting, God reminded me that I wasn’t done yet. My struggles weren’t just meant to break me—they were meant to mold me. Every obstacle sharpened my focus, strengthened my story, and pushed me to keep showing up not just for myself, but for the people watching who need hope.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a multi-hyphenate creative—journalist, media entrepreneur, photographer, and storyteller. I founded my media platform, Blanco Tarantino TV, to spotlight overlooked stories, local artists, and cultural moments that deserve a voice. Through this platform, I’ve interviewed notable figures, covered concerts and community events, and produced content that bridges hip-hop, entertainment, and real-life narratives.
I also run Blanco Picturesque, my photography brand, where I’ve had the honor of capturing iconic moments with artists like Sexyy Red, Monica, Lil Meech, and others. My work stands out because it’s rooted in authenticity—I’m not just documenting moments, I’m preserving culture. Whether I’m writing an article, taking a photo, or producing a social post, I do it with purpose and integrity.
What I’m most proud of is staying consistent through life’s storms. I didn’t have a blueprint or financial backing—I built everything from scratch with faith, creativity, and hustle. What sets me apart is my ability to blend media, music, and ministry into one voice that speaks for the unheard and uplifts my community.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I just want to say thank you for giving voices like mine a platform. I represent a lot of people who come from the struggle, who had to fight for everything without a handout. I’m still learning, still growing, and still walking by faith. If my story can inspire even one person to keep going—whether they’re dealing with health issues, creative burnout, or personal loss—then I know I’m doing something right.
Also, be on the lookout for more projects from Blanco Tarantino TV, my upcoming film work, and a deeper shift into faith-based content with The Holy Network, another platform that I created. This is only the beginning.
