Meet Jessica Katz of Katz Public Relations in Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Katz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
At an early age, I always knew I wanted to do something in entertainment. A native New Yorker, I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Public Relations/Advertising and continued my higher education at UCF, where I obtained a Master of Arts in Communication while balancing full-time employment with the university. In 2007, I was promoted to the Student Union as an Event Planner and Marketing Coordinator. The position required me to coordinate events with hundreds of university student organizations and departments. I was also responsible for branding and single-handedly overhauled the website and social media presence for the department. Wanting to pursue my passion in Public Relations, I moved to Los Angeles in 2011 and quickly landed a position with a boutique agency. When the opportunity arose to work independently, I took the challenge head on and opened my own agency in September of that year.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a challenging road. I wasn’t expecting to start my own company, the opportunity came to me so I’ve had to learn along the way what being a business owner entails. Building a good reputation in Public Relations takes time, but it is essential to success and I think I have managed to do that.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Katz Public Relations – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Katz Public Relations is a full-service boutique public relations firm specializing in talent publicity, branding, social media, special events, and marketing. With a roster that encompasses some of entertainment’s best award-winning and rising talent in television, film, and music, we aim to provide our clients with media coverage across a variety of mediums. We strive to provide hands-on, individualized service. It is this commitment and dedication that has helped us to build our business almost entirely through referrals from satisfied clients.

I am most proud of the fact we have taken our business from an idea to a reality. We started with a handful of clients and now we have a roster of 50 that encompasses talent from all areas of the industry. We are growing everyday!

What makes us different from other agencies is that we pride ourselves on being loyal to our clients and building lasting relationships.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Best: I’ve lived in large cities in New York and Florida, but Los Angeles is home to me. It feels like where I’m meant to be.

Worst: The traffic.
