Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Furey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started personal training as a teenager as a way to get healthier from my teenage eating disorder. I’ve been a personal trainer now for 18 years. I’m originally from NJ and I have been living for LA for ten years. I was a National NPC figure and bikini competitor for ten years.
I would say it’s been a lot of trial and error through my own fitness journey that has helped me to discover my own path of healthy from what I eat to how I train. One of the best additions to my regular workout routine was also exercising my mental health with meditation and yoga. Now I feel as if my lifestyle of how I eat, to how I train, to how I feed my mind makes up up a balanced day to day routine of my daily healthy living.
Has it been a smooth road?
I wish it was a smooth road. When I moved to LA from NJ, I knew no one and had zero clients, zero contacts and no job. So I had to really hustle and plug away at building my business as well as meeting new people. I feel as if I am still paving the road of my career as I meet and connect to new people.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the FureyFitness story. Tell us more about the business.
Like most personal training businesses, I specialize in different areas of fitness that make up different workout routines based on the client’s goals. I would say it’s my personality and ability to connect to each individual person that helps my business to continue to be successful. I specialize in strength training, yoga, pilates, nutrition, and post-rehab training.
What I’m most proud of is that I started my business in NJ and continued to keep a connection with my clients in NJ as I build my business in LA. I’m proud that I have kept my business for over ten years. It’s always changing. It’s always growing. And it’s always teaching me new ways to bring fitness to each individual person.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory as a child would be any holiday with my family. My parents always made it a special day for my brothers and sister and I that the day was full of holiday stuff all day. It was different than other days so it’s enjoyable to look back at videos and pictures.
