Meet Jesse Manibusan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Manibusan.

Jesse, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up with parents who sang in the church, so music always in our home! With eight other siblings in the house, I learned comedy. Since I was nine years old, I’ve learned to sing, play guitar, and entertain audiences by simply learning as I went along.

Self-taught in guitar and singing, growing up in a big family gave me comedy from the school of hard knocks! I’ve sung at weddings, funerals, anniversaries, all manner of religious and civic celebrations. In high school, I was recruited while singing at a local church, to sing for a top 40 band. I sang the songs of Earth, Wind and Fire, Tower of Power, Santana, and anything and everything from AM and FM radio!

Singing and cracking jokes in front of an audience, gave me a skill set that allowed me to capture and hold the attention of audiences large and small, from 40 people to 400,000 people. Today, my audiences range in age and culture, but it’s all the wonderful same adventure. Music! Inspiration! Comedy.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There’s never been a smooth road. Ever. But that’s the way of the journey of learning and honing one’s gift and skill. In fact, the struggles, failures, and obstacles are the only way to grow in life. Learning to ask for help is just as essential as offering help! That’s been a major obstacle for me; asking for help.

Learning to navigate through the adventures of airline travel, ground transportation, last minute changes by hosts, the lack of experience from various clients and hosts, and make no mistake, some of my own naiveté and “people pleasing!” The good news is that I’m constantly learning!

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Jesse Manibusan Music is primarily music, motivational speaking, and joy cultivating experience. With most of my experience and clientele being Church organizations, there is plenty of bookings and experience with non-religious civic organizations. Music and comedy is a universal language that reaches the hearts and minds from every walk of life.

My own personal mission statement is ALL ARE WELCOME; ALL BELONG. No exceptions, no small print or disclaimers. Music and joy can transform the hardest and most skeptical of hearts! And I’m happy to say, any and every age group is the perfect group for Jesse Manibusan Music.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Mentors, supporters, folks who have encouraged–PRICELESS. I’m grateful for Mrs. Lucy Kinchen, my choir teacher in High School, Mr. Judd, my 5th-grade teacher, many other teachers. The late great, Fr. Greg Comella was and remains, a great influence and mentor to me.

In addition, the type of marketing that has been most effective in terms of connecting me and giving me the success that I’ve enjoyed–WORD OF MOUTH. Deliver what your clients and hosts demand and rightfully expect, and the return business and references for new business is a natural and welcomed result!
