Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessame Berry. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Jessame, a proud Los Angeles native, discovered his passions for music at an early age. Honing his skills as a drummer in a youth worship band, Jessame’s journey into songwriting and production was inevitable. Drawing inspiration from the Berry family’s rich musical heritage, Jessame’s relatives have been a significant influence on his music career.
Jessame made waves with the release of his debut single, “Lights,” marking his ascent in the music scene. Subsequent singles showcased his versatility and talent, earning him recognition and radio airplay. Jessame has collaborated with esteemed artists, including Dr. Dre, Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, Jeremih, Lost Kings, and more. He inked his first major label deal with Marauders Organization, a JV between Q-Tip and Republic Records, and is crafting his debut album for independent release in 2024.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No matter what industry you’re in, it’s always going to be a roller coaster. At my lowest point, I was living out of my music studio and showering at LA Fitness. Using any money I got royalty wise to cover my immediate needs to stay alive. It was tough, but there was beauty in the struggle.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a songwriter, artist, producer, and musician. I’m a professionally endorsed drummer by Tamburo, an amazing Italian company. I think anyone who’s worked with me would say I’m known for my ability to find unique and creative melodies, along with my peculiar style of vocal production and arrangements. I’m definitely most proud of my ear and where my intuition leads me musically. I love programming drums, producing a big sound, and making sure the vocals stand out from anything else.
What matters most to you?
The impact that my music can have on the people who listen. Staying authentic to yourself is important to me, I think it’s a responsibility we have as human beings to share your story and realize that we’re all more alike than not…
