Meet Jeremy Hapner of Stained Concrete Originals in Eagle Rock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Hapner.

Jeremy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story started in the early 90’s. I was taking art classes in pottery, sculpture, and acrylics. I learned how to work with colors and lighting. I went to various events such as art shows, one day I went to an art show held in a park in Pasadena. There were quite a few artists showing but one stood out from the rest. The paintings were abstracts done in acrylics and they were original. I’ve never seen anything like it. After a lengthy conversation with the artist, I married her. Well not that day but 4 years after. During the time we got to know each other, she was contracted to acid stain a restaurant concrete floor. And asked me to assist her. When we finished the process and sealed the floor I Knew right away that’s what I wanted to in life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve done many floors since and I must say most of them had obstacles along the way
But I’ve found solutions and that gave me knowledge to work with other problem floors. I love challenges. It never gets boring.

Stained Concrete Originals – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Stained Concrete Originals has been around for over 20 years. We work with contractors, designers, architects and home owners. We work with old and new concrete, we grind, stain, seal, and polish concrete. We also do countertops. My specialty is acid staining the concrete with various translucent colors to make it look like natural stone.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success comes when clients refer you to friends and family because their happy with the results of the work you’ve done. It also comes when you love the work you do and thrive to please everyone including the difficult clients. I’m always wanting to be one step above the others with new ideas and originality. That’s why I named my company “Stained Concrete Originals”.
