Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Carter.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in the event industry about six and a half years ago, right before COVID hit and changed everything. When the pandemic shut down corporate events, the industry had to completely shift gears and focus on smaller backyard events and weddings.
That’s actually where I found my passion. I fell in love with the intimacy of smaller events — the personal touches, the details, and the creativity that goes into making someone’s special day come to life. There’s something really meaningful about being part of those moments.
I basically started from the ground up and learned how to run a business by doing everything myself. I didn’t have a background in business management — I learned through hands-on experience, problem-solving, and figuring things out as I went. That experience taught me so much about leadership, customer service, and what it takes to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
About a year and nine months ago, I decided to take everything I learned and start my own company — Honeybee Rentals. We’re a small, family-owned business, and I’m really proud of that. My husband builds all of our backdrops and bars, and I handle the creative side — designing setups, coordinating rentals, and making sure every event has that special touch.
What started as a small dream has grown into something really special. I love seeing our clients’ reactions when they walk into a setup we’ve created — it reminds me why I do what I do. Every event tells a story, and I’m grateful that I get to be a part of so many of them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the journey so rewarding. Starting a business from scratch comes with a lot of challenges — from figuring out how to balance client expectations and timelines to managing inventory, finances, and family life all at once. There were times I questioned if I was doing the right thing, especially when things got overwhelming or slower than expected.
But every challenge taught me something new. I’ve learned to stay flexible, to problem-solve quickly, and to trust the process even when it feels uncertain. Building Honeybee Rentals hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every late night and early morning. Seeing how far we’ve come makes all those tough moments feel like stepping stones instead of setbacks.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Honeybee Rentals?
Honeybee Rentals is a small, family-owned business that specializes in creating intimate, detail-driven events. We provide custom-built backdrops, bars, balloon installations, and full event styling for bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, and backyard celebrations.
What sets us apart is the personal touch we bring to every event. We don’t just provide rentals — we craft experiences. From the custom design of a backdrop to the thoughtful placement of decor, every detail is intentional and designed to make our clients’ moments feel truly special. Because we’re a small team, we can work closely with each client to understand their vision and bring it to life in a way that feels effortless and personal.
I’m most proud of the brand we’ve built together as a family. My husband creates all of our signature pieces, while I handle the creative direction and client experience. Honeybee Rentals isn’t just about the decor — it’s about creating memories that last long after the event is over.
What I want readers to know is that we’re passionate about helping people celebrate life’s milestones in a way that feels warm, personal, and beautifully styled. Whether it’s a small backyard gathering or a themed shower, we love turning visions into reality and making every moment unforgettable.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I couldn’t do any of this without my husband Ash — he’s the creative powerhouse behind all of our custom backdrops and bars. His talent, dedication, and attention to detail bring our vision to life and make every event truly special. Honeybee Rentals is as much his creation as it is mine, and I’m so grateful to be building this business alongside him every day.
