Meet Jennifer Jones of Nevéll Skin in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Jones.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a very unique singer and songwriter with an innovative coffee-infused skincare line that just launched late June 2020. I am a Gemini, so creating two things at once completes me…..seriously! I am originally from the East Coast, and as tough and true as they come. I grew up listening to a lot of Doo-Wop, Jazz and Soul music. As a child, I always had a very raspy, deep voice but had no idea how to use it until I got older. A friend heard me sing one night and basically said If I didn’t turn this into a profession, I will regret it for the rest of my life. To which I replied, “But nobody sounds like this on the radio, it’s too different” (silly young Jen). I then turned my style of “different” into a creative journey that has lead me down a path of growth, awareness and self-love. If you are in this industry, then you know what I mean. It is one of the hardest industries and you will lose yourself quickly if you are not surrounded with belief in yourself and the want to inspire and help others.

My other passion was always studying about all-natural skincare products. For the life of me, I could not choose just one path or career. Was my passion music? Was it creating skincare products? Now, this is where life becomes beautiful. The uncertainty of your life is when growth kicks in. Two crafts pulling me left and right until I said “F*ck it, I am doing both”. The day I made that decision was the best day of my life. I created Nevéll Skin out of a need to heal my own eczema. I would study formulating and the power of herbs during the day and write music at night. I stopped listening to other people saying “Focus on one thing, you can only do one thing” and I started trusting myself and creating my perfect story. Putting together the pieces to MY puzzle!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Depends on what your version of smooth is.

I would never want a smooth road to go down because it’s in the dark times that made me stronger and more resilient in life. It was in the “not so smooth” and uncomfortable waters that I created my best songs. My song “Red Sauce” came from a very dark time in my life. My song “So Sick” came from a time where I took back the reins of my life, also my most popular song to date. It was in the times of embarrassment that I created my own coffee-infused facial oil for a need to heal myself. Fed up with years and years of steroid cream that was doctor recommended, yet never worked.

I would say my life journey, thus far, happened as it was supposed to.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Nevéll Skin is a Coffee infused skincare line. I am obsessed with coffee and it’s many benefits when used externally on the skin. Coffee helps hydrate and gives your skin the most amazing glow! I just soft-launched the business with my partner in late June with our Hydrating Coffee Drops! This oil is completely organic, vegan and I searched high and low for the best eco-friendly packaging. I was very specific on making sure the packaging was recyclable and biodegradable.

The mission of Nevéll Skin is to contribute to the consumer’s blank canvas and bring out their natural beauty. I formulated this oil for The Bold Minimalist! Someone who wants something bold like coffee, effective, no flowers or synthetic smells. Just give me the damn coffee….ha! We have rave reviews so far from repeat clients who are experiencing first hand what coffee and amazing oils can do for your skin. I am just happy that I created a solution to my own problem and now I can share with others! The facial oil is gender neutral so it’s for everyone. Men love it as much as women! It’s coffee for your face…..like….mind blown!

What sets Nevéll Skin apart is the desire to give back. In my music I have inspired so many people to feel strong and powerful and now with my skincare line, I can now inspire people to be comfortable in their own skin. Just love the raw and natural version of you! Simple.

What were you like growing up?
Oh man…I was a firecracker! LOL! I was different and went against the norm. I was opinionated, bold and sassy but my mom always said she never had to worry about me because I was responsible.

I had a passion for cooking and started at age 11. I taught myself how to cook everything with no cookbooks. Cooking was my therapy.

By age 12, I was listening to The Temptations and by the time I was 17, I drove around CT listening to a live version of “The Great Pretender” by The Platters. Nobody my age listened to that sort of music. Music glued itself to me unknowingly. Music was my therapy.

I loved poetry. I loved to write about heartache before I even knew what it felt like. Sometimes I read back my writings almost like I predicted it all. Writing was my therapy.
