Meet Jennifer JayBee Beasley of More2JayBee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer JayBee Beasley.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer JayBee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a cancer survivor from Compton, Ca. After becoming cancer free, I ran for Miss Compton, a beauty pageant in my city and everything spiraled from there. I started Working again and am employed at the number 1 tech store on the world. My hustle remained the same and I’m now hosting a monthly open mic on Compton, educating students on cancer and staying consistent in my Survivor Studies course, as well as traveling doing entertainment. I didn’t forget where I come from but I’m more focused on where I’m going. My goal is to be the next Oprah! Hosting my own show, walking red carpets and giving away from things to people who normally wouldn’t have them.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles included lacking confidence, feeling unwanted by family and unliked by societies norms. Not every day you see a dark-skinned bald girl with chemo scars. I’m almost 30, unmarried and not able to have children but that doesn’t affect me anymore. The kids of my community are mine.

More2JayBee – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I own More2JayBee LLC. It’s my baby. I started it by looking at my Instagram, watching tv and seeing the lack of representation for women who look like me and definitely for women of color who have battled cancer. I used to be “Just JayBee” but I found out that there was MORE 2 Me and that’s what built my brand. I’m proud to say that I’ve successfully hosted over 25 events since cancer freedom and my own open mic just
made its one year anniversary.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment has been being recognized by my Mayor as the “Compton Oprah” and winning the award for Compton’s playmaker earlier this year for my volunteerism and making new platforms for the community to unite and enjoy.
