Meet Jen Proctor of Cultivated Entertainment in Mid City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Proctor.

Jen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I always knew that I was going to work in the entertainment industry. From a very young age I was fascinated by celebrities, musicians and anyone who had “starpower”. I was a singer my whole life and actively pursued a career in music while going college for journalism. If the singing didn’t work out, I thought I would be a news anchor or entertainment journalist.

Through all of us I learned an important lesson- I was a good person and I wanted to be that good person in the industry. From there I poured myself into my studies at USC and did multiple internships in the industry ranging from radio to print to television.

Upon graduating I moved to NYC to kick off my career. My first job was as an assistant to the creative director at Fox. He oversaw all of the news programming and I was thrown into the world of television and really learned the ins and outs. After three years there I moved on to agency life. It was on the busy desks at the agencies that I really learned an understanding for talent and how their teams work. I found what I was good at and soaked it all in.

My mentor at the time offered me a job that would take me back home to Los Angeles, and I would oversee the talent department for a daily daytime talk show. We had nearly 50 guests a week and I learned very quickly what it takes to work at a speed like that, with an array of talent and oversee a team of my own.

I left the show and shortly after joined a large production company as the Head of Talent. There I oversaw everything both on the air and in development. I had a million projects I was working on at a time and continued to develop my skills and relationships.

After nearly 3 years, I left and formed Cultivated Entertainment. What we do is unlike anyone else out there. We offer an array of services like talent booking, casting, producing and development. We provide the talent- whether celebrity, athlete, musician, expert, influencer and beyond. Our clients range from TV shows and networks to brands and events and we work individually with our clients to create the most effective results.

Has it been a smooth road?
In all honesty- it’s been a really smooth road. Sure, there were bumps and curves but all of that only pushed me and molded me into the person and boss that I am today.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cultivated Entertainment – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Cultivated Entertainment is a company that specializes in all things talent. There is no other company that offers the array of services and specializes in all the types of talent that we do.

The thing that we’re best known for is the way that we work. I take pride in the fact that people truly enjoy working with us in an industry that can be very stressful. We get shit done and we never take on a project or client that we know we cannot deliver on.

We are an all women based business in the entertainment industry. Now more than ever it’s a really exciting time to be a female in business, and the types of projects and clients that we work on have diverse content and meaningful messages. We’re smart, dedicated women who work our asses off and have fun while doing it.

The most important thing to us and our business is our relationships. Each and every client, representative, talent and person that we work with is of the utmost priority. We work to collaborate with people to create innovative, fresh, incredible results.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Los Angeles is the city of Entertainment. There is nowhere else we would rather be! The energy and creativity of this city is like nowhere else in the world. Everyday we are inspired by new art, food, events and people.

One thing that occasionally disappoints me about Los Angeles is that everything shuts down at 2am! Sometimes you’re having a really fun night out and you just wish last call was an hour later 😉
