Meet Jazmin Rojano of Menos Mas Refill Market

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmin Rojano.

Hi Jazmin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Menos Más Refill Market began in the San Fernando Valley in 2022, sparked by a simple living room conversation about how we could leave the Earth better than we found it. Growing up as a first-generation Mexican American, I watched my family repurpose everything, cookie tins became sewing kits, sour cream containers held salsa, nothing went to waste. Those small acts of care shaped how I see sustainability today.

The idea of refilling was new to me, but I quickly realized how much our community and the planet needed it. Menos Más was built from those roots — family, culture, and connection — with a mission to make sustainable living simple, accessible, and inclusive.

What started with small pop-ups at the Encino Farmers Market has now grown to the Hollywood Farmers Market, local gyms, community events, and collaborations with CSUN Sustainability. Each refill, conversation, and event reminds me why we started, to inspire mindful choices and create Less Waste, More Earth for future generations.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been a meaningful one. Starting Menos Más meant stepping into an unfamiliar world — especially as a first-time business owner. I had to learn everything from marketing and design to managing inventory and setting up at farmers markets. There were moments when sales were slow, the weather made pop-ups challenging, or I questioned whether people would truly connect with the idea of refilling.

As a small, Latina-owned business, representation and access have also been challenges. Many people in our community had never heard of refilling or didn’t see themselves reflected in the sustainability space, which is why education and outreach have become such an important part of what we do.

Even with the ups and downs, every conversation, refill, and moment of connection has made it all worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Menos Mas Refill Market, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Menos Más Refill Market is a sustainability-focused small business based in the San Fernando Valley. We offer refillable home and body care products, from soaps and cleaners to shampoos and lotions, to help people reduce plastic waste in simple, practical ways. Our mission is to make sustainable living easy, accessible, and rooted in community.

We are more than just a refill business. As a Latina-owned company, we are passionate about bringing sustainability to spaces where it hasn’t always been visible or accessible. We proudly serve both English and Spanish speaking communities and show that sustainability can start with one small change. Overconsumption is a real problem, and we want to help people make eco-conscious purchases while supporting local, eco-friendly products.

We are deeply committed to reducing plastic waste in our communities. In addition to our pop-ups at farmers markets and gyms, we participate in beach and park cleanups and collaborate with organizations like Surfrider LA, ItisoverdueLA, and Reusable LA. We also join policy committees to advocate for change at the city level. We are excited to be launching refill delivery services to make it even easier for people to live sustainably. Each refill, event, and cleanup moves us closer to our goal of Less Waste, More Earth.

Menos Más is here to support everyone on their sustainability journey, one refill, one conversation, and one community at a time.

How do you define success?
I define success as the positive impact you are able to make in the community and planet.
