Meet Jayy Hancock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayy Hancock.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my dance career accidentally. I was a football player for Pop Warner and my sister was taking dance classes. I told my mom one day that I could do that and she said “well take a class”. Once I took that first class that was it for me. I was 11 years old when I first began dancing and got signed by a talent agency when I was 12 years old. From there, I have worked my way up dancing with professional dance companies and taking numerous amounts of classes. My first big job was dancing for lil mama at the 2015 BET awards when I was 14. That job forever changed my life.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
For the most part, it wasn’t always a smooth road to get where I am today. I got plenty of no’s before I finally got that one yes in auditions. I have had to make many sacrifices like missing out on going to high school for four years and seeing all my childhood friends. But now looking back on it, I would never change a thing because it got me to where I’m at today with hard work and dedication and for that I’m grateful.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a professional dancer, model, actor and influencer. People best know me for my dancing abilities. The most thing I’m most proud of is how far I have come within the past couple of years. I have danced on many television shows and have performed with the biggest names in the music industry. One thing that sets me apart from others is definitely my look. I feel like is so important on how your appearance is because that’s what makes you stand out from others. For me, I’m known as that blonde curly haired kid.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel that luck is only part of it. I think it’s partly luck and also hard work and dedication which I feel is my destiny. Coming from an entertainment family, I was destined to be in this business. My grandfather was the late Barry White and through him, I found my love for the entertainment business. Not only do I dance but I sing and act as well. I am a triple threat.
