Meet Javon Frazier

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Javon Frazier. Javon was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Kat Jones.

Hi Javon, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
From a young age, I was enchanted by the boundless realms of imagination – a world where Spider-Man swung from the pages of my favorite comic books and GI Joe figures stood as trophies. These were not just pastimes; they were the seeds of a dream, where owning a Spider-Man subscription was my measure of success. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of an extraordinary adventure.

Marvel was not just a company to me; it was a cornerstone of my childhood aspirations. Working there, especially during the exhilarating dawn of the MCU, was nothing short of surreal. I was right there when Iron Man took flight, not just on-screen, but in the realm of public consciousness, defying the odds during a time when skepticism was as common as applause. This experience, working amidst the pioneering spirits at Marvel, was my crucible – forging a steadfast belief in vision and the unwavering pursuit of what others may not yet see.

It was there, working in various departments including custom publishing, consumer products, theatrical, television and gaming that I found my calling – where creativity and business acumen blended into a single narrative.

Now, as the CEO of Maestro Media, my journey has come full circle. Here, the spotlight shines on the visionaries – the creators who dare to dream as I once did. We stand by them, not just as publishers, but as partners and friends, bringing their vision to life through innovative products. For it’s not just about games, merch, or collectibles; it’s about honoring that same wonder that a subscription to Spider-Man once brought to a kid who believed that anything was possible.

And so, my story is not just mine, but a shared narrative of every creator, every dreamer who has ever dared to believe in the improbable, only to see it come to life. This is what drives me, what fuels Maestro Media, and what will continue to define our path forward.

Please tell us more about your brand, Maestro Media
I’ve been working within fandom-related industries for nearly two decades, and I realized how integral and valuable having the communities themselves involved in the product development truly is. This led me to start Maestro Media, an innovative full service strategic development firm specializing in adapting original IP and pop culture franchises into a wide range of physical experiences and products, including tabletop games, merchandise, artwork, and more, all through a meaningful community-focused engagement approach. Whether it’s direct to consumer or leveraging crowdfunding platforms, our primary goal is involving the fan communities around these different brands from product ideation all the way through distribution to ensure the final products that are created are exactly what the communities want. I’m proud of so many things my team and I have accomplished since we launched back in 2015 – but I think a standout moment was making this year’s Inc. 5000 list. We have worked so hard to grow the business in a meaningful way and pave a path for a new approach to product development, and it was invaluable to us to get that recognition.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Kat Jones and Motiv PR and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Motiv PR.
Kat and I go way back. We met in 2007 when we both worked at Marvel – I was in marketing and she was in promotions – and it became clear very quickly that we worked extremely well together. As we grew in our roles where I was eventually running games marketing for Marvel and she was helping with PR for Marvel’s animated projects, we continued to collaborate and help one another until we both moved to different companies. Even then, we stayed in regular contact, both as friends and as colleagues, and I eventually hired her and her firm to help with PR activities tied to the projects I was working on at Studio71. When we started to collaborate again through these projects, it became clear that we would both continue to be a huge staple in each other’s working lives, as once I launched my own company – Maestro Media – I knew I wanted to hire Motiv to help with our PR activities. Therefore, in 2020, she and Motiv started working hand in hand with Maestro Media, helping us map out our messaging and narrative, our PR strategy, goals and objectives and more, and as we started to roll out projects and launch new initiatives, we started to really notice how far their work was taking us. We were being featured in Forbes, IGN, Variety, Rolling Stone and more, and the stories Motiv was helping us tell helped drive our business forward and highlight everything that differentiates us and makes us groundbreaking and forward thinking in the fandom and gaming industries. It’s been an absolute pleasure continuing to work with someone I consider a friend, a mentee, a partner, and so much more, and I look forward to seeing what 2024 brings and all the growth we hope to experience thanks to the hard work of our internal team and the help of Motiv sharing our stories.
