Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Castellanos.
Javier, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
JJ’s was established in 1995. We used whatever savings to purchase 4 jumpers or bounce houses as some refer to them to get the get things rolling. At the time, the demand for jumpers was new to LA county, and was far more significant than today’s market. So back then, it was no brainer. We had had hand drawn flyers made, then created numerous copies and passed them out on my bike with the local teens. Every Saturday morning, would be a blessing when we had at least two of four rented and even better once all four would be booked. Then from there, we had no choice but to add to our inventory, since then we haven’t looked back. We now offer more than just your normal house, we have added all needs for whatever your event calls for.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As any small business owner would agree on, there is no such thing as a smooth progression. Its takes all your blood and sweat to go into growing yourself and your business to ultimately reach your goal. We specifically had many struggles when we had to move locations within Bellflower. Customers would at first think you close up shop and packed it in, just to learned we moved once again.
Please tell us about JJ’s Jumpers and Party Rentals.
We specialize in event planning, party planning, and any décor needs. I would say we are known for coming through for many procrastinators morning of the day of, I feel that separates us from the competition, and also being a small company and family operated makes us relate to our clients and coming through for their family and loved ones. I would say our proudest money is when we pull up to set the jumper up and the kids smile is literally cheek to cheek.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I would say one of my most memorable moments from childhood was my very first goal in soccer as my grandfather looked on.
