Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Star.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2005, I dropped out of UCLA Law School when I discovered my mom had a relapse with brain cancer. It was such a difficult time in my life because I was forced to reckon with the fragility of life, and what I–truly–wanted to do as a career.
That same year, I was given a camera and I decided to pursue my passion and see if I could become a photographer, a total pipe dream at the time. Shortly thereafter, my newfound business exploded and I became one of the most sought-after photographers in the world, earning numerous awards for my work.
As a result of my success, entrepreneurs asked how I built a personal brand and marketed it, so I created educational content on how business owners could do the same. Today I travel the world empowering business owners to build a personal brand and market it on social media.
Oh, and I still carry my camera everywhere I go.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have to be honest. Really honest. When I was 25 years old, doctors said my mom was dying of brain cancer. She was only 50. At that moment, I thought I was having a mid-life crisis. I was literally half the age of my dying mother. At that moment, I understood how fast life flies by and I promised to do everything I could to ensure I didn’t look back on my life from a hospital bed and wonder “What if…”
Are pivots scary? Yes. Unpredictable? Yes. Awkward, painful, stressful? Yes, yes, yes. But pivots are exciting and life-giving, too. Pivots make you thrilled to work for something you truly want and believe in. Pivots make you breathe deeper. Pivots make you trust in yourself and ability to succeed more than you could ever imagine.
Oh, and here’s some good news: my mother miraculously recovered from brain cancer…and she’s the first person I call when I’m ready to make yet another pivot.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Social Curator – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the proud founder of Social Curator (www.mysocialcurator.com), a social media subscription for business owners. On the first of each month, members receive 30 stock photos, 15 caption templates, and a monthly social media marketing Action Plan to ensure their businesses are growing with ease and flow. Never before has it been so easy to create social media posts for business growth.
Social Curator stock photos aren’t business related, but–rather–lifestyle inspired. Entrepreneurs are really good at talking about their business and what they sell… but what lacks is the social component to their social media. And missing lifestyle/personal insights in an Instagram feed? This is what drives GROWTH and engagement.
Yes, being social on social media helps more than just marketing your business all the time. But you probably know that! 😉 So that’s where Social Curator comes into play. These photos are photos that drive social conversations.
Things like weekend plans, what music you listen to while you work, your favorite summertime drink, etc. For some, this might seem silly… but to start conversations on social in a casual way is the first step to building TRUST… and trust leads to sales. 🙂
It also comes with monthly caption templates that increase engagement, a monthly action plan with the newest tips to leverage social media marketing, and a private FB group.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I can’t wait to turn Social Curator into an app to fully integrate social media solutions for business owners. And I look forward to start writing my book later this year… so many amazing things are in store, but I’m most looking forward to starting the adoption process. Life is beautiful.
