Meet Jaqueline Fleming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaqueline Fleming.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a kid’s private acting coach. I started coaching kids in 2008 and in 2009, I opened an acting studio for kids in Louisiana and in 2016, I relocated to California and I turned my in person acting workshops into in person private coaching and online private coaching for kids who are auditioning for film and television projects.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was a lot of responsibility because I owned a huge acting studio in Louisiana and it serviced kids to adults and I also had grants and acting teachers dispersed in the school system teaching a film program and I also was a founder and owner of a prestigious talent agency so I had my hands full all the time. The challenges were keeping great teachers in the acting studio and keeping the programs fresh and competitive so actors could receive the best possible training and resources.

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
I am a private acting coach and mentor for kids and young adults in the entertainment industry. I specialize in training for Film and TV auditions. I think what separates me is I am African American first off and there are not that many African American coaches working with actors in LA, especially kid actors. Let’s see what am I mostly known for? I am mostly known for taking a kid or young adult with God-given talent and molding them into a working actor. I am known for connecting the dots to help someone achieve their goals and I am known for my mentorship from kids to young adults. I have mentored literally thousands of aspiring actors in my career and I have this special connection with those seeking to do this professionally. I am a realistic and I can’t be more honest with my clients about the ups and downs of the business but I am also a manifestor and I speak into the lives of those I mentor. Everything they believe and or see we can accomplish with hard work.

I am about empowerment, show biz education and creative training as a coach and mentor. Another gift I have is identifying other gifts in those I coach. I will work with a kid for a couple of sessions and then call the parents and say I think your son or daughter is a writer or a director in the making. I have never been wrong and the next thing you know the parents are honing another talent in a child that they thought only wanted to act. What I am most proud of as an acting coach is the lives that I have been able to touch and change thru the arts. To look up and see someone who had aspirations of acting be on a big screen at a movie theatre is priceless. In 2014 I received a trailblazer award for my artistic work with the youth in Louisiana and it made me so proud. Never in a million years did I think I would become a mentor and acting coach so to receive that kind of award just blew me away!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The qualities and characteristics that are important to my success are passion for those that I help or coach. I think you have to be honest, reliable, organized, knowledgeable, kind, very gifted, genuine, caring, fearless, uniquely creative, relentless, energized and excited about what you do and who you are helping.
