Today we’d like to introduce you to James Lowe.
James was a 4-year starter at Brown University. He was an All-Ivy selection and Captain his Senior Year. From there, he moved to Palos Verdes in 2005, where he has been running Little League Baseball Camps and Private Instruction for the last 12 years. He has also built baseball camps in Orange County and North Carolina. Coach Ballgame is known for his creative and energetic approach to causing children fall in love with the game of baseball.
Has it been a smooth road?
I had multiple odd jobs along the way, as the business evolved. I waited tables for 7 years, as well as substitute taught at elementary schools and juvenile school.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Coach Ballgame Baseball story. Tell us more about the business.
I run little league baseball camps, and private lessons for boys and girls, ages 4-12. My niche is introducing the game of baseball to the newcomer. I am known for my creative and fun approaches to teaching the skills of baseball. My camps put a high priority on building character and leadership skills. The players learn that a “ballplayer” does things a bit differently. They have a great work ethic. They treat others with respect. They help their parents with chores around the house. They set a high standard on doing well in school. My hashtag is #whataballplayerdoes. It serves as a reminder of what is expected of a player who declares themselves Ballplayers.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I enjoy teaching dads and little league coaches my approaches to coaching young ballplayers. I would like to expand on that throughout the country, and possibly beyond. My 5-year goal would be to run Camps for children, as well as Clinics for Dads and Coaches around the country.
