Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamall Anthony.
Jamall, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I actually did a cover of this amazing song called “I Can’t Wait” by Runner Runner (formerly of Capitol Records” and I put it on YouTube. The band seen the video and reached out to me on twitter about flying out and doing some music together. It was truly a life-changing experience and fast forward a few years later I landed a song with a band “Dreamers” on (Hollywood Records) which sparked the desire for me to move to LA full time and become a singer/songwriter. Now, passing my 1st full year living in LA in a few short weeks I’ll have my 3rd major label placement coming out. It feels amazing to have come this far and to have this success already. I’m truly blessed.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely has been a rocky road. Many disappointments and lessons learned along the way. The music world is very tricky and you can be fed alot of empty promises but thankfully the team I surround myself with is amazing. One of my struggles at one point was trying to please everyone else and it just took the fun out of music for a while but when I started just doing what felt right my whole energy changed and it birthed Jamall Anthony and this new EP set to release in a few weeks entitled “Sinful Monk”. I’m so proud of this body of work and it basically sums up my past few years in 5 mind shaking songs.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m proud to be the brain behind Trust The Process Publishing. It’s been my dream forever to be a songwriter and I now get to do that full time and look to bring up other great songwriters under the banner that I work endlessly to expand and build upon. Long after I’m gone I want my name and brand to live on. I want Trust The Process to be a way of living !! Wake up everyday and go do something great. MAKE HISTORY !!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me Success is doing what you love to do in life everyday. Building a legacy that I’m proud of and being able to pass something on to my kids and having it around for generations to come…thats my success marker. Once upon a time it was a dollar amount but with age comes wisdom and now I truly know id rather be making a good living and be extremely happy than being rich and miserable. The definition will probably continue to change over time but that’s ok because we all evolve and as we do so do our thoughts and so forth.
