Meet Dr. Jaimie Torromeo of Advanced Wellness Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jaimie Torromeo. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Jaimie Torromeo

Dr. Jaimie Torromeo has been the owner of the Advanced Wellness Center since 2019. Doctor of Chiropractic was not her plan when she was in her undergrad as a mother of 2 small children. Dr. Jaimie was studying Criminal Justice in her undergraduate program and working a part-time job at Relax The Back Store. It was then she met a chiropractor and became interested in the impact it was having on her customers’ life. Dr. Jaimie enrolled in chiropractic school in Whittier and joined The Advanced Wellness Team in 2015.

She is passionate about chiropractic care. “I believe you can restore your health no matter how old or sick you feel so you can continue to do all the things in life you want to for as long as you want to!”

A Long Beach native, Dr. Jaimie has played competitive volleyball from fifth grade all the way through her days at Pepperdine University and playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks. The physical demands of competitive sports have given her an exceptional understanding of the healing properties the body has once the spine is restored to its intended position. Her goal is to assist the body to function optimally by improving overall health, spinal alignment and rehabilitation in sports and chronic injuries.

Dr. Jaimie uses Diversified Technique and manual muscle treatments to help patients of all ages! She treats patients during and after pregnancy, newborn babies, people well into their 90s, and everyone in between!

She is very active in the sports community and continues to train with CrossFit, Olympic Weightlifting, and Hot Yoga.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Taking over the business in 2019 was exciting! Advanced Wellness Center has a great reputation and patient base from almost 3 decades! Then 2020 hit. Navigating a small business during global pandemic was very challenging. AWC was able to stay open during the coronavirus but did have some practitioners leave the center and transition to telehealth or no longer practice…

AWC has big things happening in 2024! Dr. Jaimie has joined Southern California University of Health Sciences as an Associated Faculty and has welcomed interns into the Wellness Center. Additionally, we will be adding back of Dr. of Naturopathy, Registered Dietary Nutritionists, and Doctors of Chiropractic.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
At the Advanced Wellness Center, your wellness is our goal. By treating you, in addition to your symptoms, our chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, naturopaths, and nutritionists seek to address the root cause of what keeps you from being your physical and emotional best. Pain, fatigue, and hormonal imbalances do not have to be part of your life. We provide you with a plan for wellness that focuses on the prevention of illness and promotes a healthy body and mind. Practitioners work together – combining years of experience in alternative medical specialties — to ensure an optimal outcome for every patient. Your wellness is the result of comprehensive, holistic care.

Mind/Body Connection

The 5,000-year-old philosophy of the natural healing arts, like those practiced at the Advanced Wellness Center, teaches that there is no area of the body that is not affected by the mind and, conversely, no area of the mind unaffected by the body. This recognition of “oneness” is the underlying foundation of natural medicine.

It rarely occurs to us how often our emotions affect our physical health. In reacting to the experiences of life, the human mind initiates physical reactions, like when our blood pressure rises or stomach acids increase in response to stressful or anxious thoughts and feelings. If not attended to, these reactions can result in poor health, illness, disease, and even a shortened life span.

There is a ceaseless exchange between mental/emotional energies and the coarser physical form referred to as our body. Treating only a symptom, especially that from the mental/emotional realm, commonly manifests itself as physical illness or pain. If only the symptoms are treated, the root causes are not addressed.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
As a healthcare facility during the pandemic, we had the opportunity to provide a safe place for patients to get the care that they needed. Our goal was to give the same level of care we have always provided, in spite of what was going on outside of our center. The world was stressed out! We did everything we could to maintain a safe and peaceful environment once you walked through our doors.
