Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Winter White.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m 23 years old, and I’m a self-made artist from Ontario. Growing up, I’d been introduced to a wide range of genres. From my parent’s oldies to my sisters jammin out to No Doubt, music has always stayed constant. I was seven when I realized my couch’s elevation made a great platform for Alicia Keys’ belts. Propping myself up, “Fallin”. Began to trickle out. My father’s joyous expression, ingrained in my mind to this day. Moving around quite often as a child, I’d made my room a main source of comfort. I was fascinated by Linda Ronstadt’s powerful rifts and Norah Jones sweet tone, I started to follow along. Feeling a strong connection to music, It started to become my emotional support.
As it turned into a clutch for grievances, I started opening up to different aspects. Playing piano, working with different ranges, and getting comfortable singing in front of others. Feeling my acoustics were worthy enough in the shower, I decided to sign up for my middle school’s talent show. Slowly, I was escaping my room and peeling back the layers of doubt. I attended Chaffey High School, where I became heavily involved in choir, theatre arts, and dance.
As terrified as I was. I noticed a difference in myself when performing. I started to sing for local sporting events, school functions, and in various locations for my community. Not feeling fully satisfied with pursuing theatre, I’d felt my desire for it, decline. Too focused on portraying other characters, I was yearning to develop a better understanding of myself and wanted to open up more artistically. I pulled out my notebook and began to write for me.
Meeting local artists in Pomona, I found connections that lead to a whole new part of me, that was too afraid to venture out. Grateful for the energy, the passion, and talent. It inspired me to create my own. I currently have music that’s been progressing, and can’t wait to release my first single, knowing this is for sure just the beginning of my creations.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m faced everyday with a new challenge. In the end, all that matters is how you approach these obstacles. Pointing out past traumas and struggles only transpires to the strength it’s given me today. Helping me to overcome what’s next at hand. I like to take things light for right now.
As a natural stressor, I’m learning to balance my foundations. Focusing on the ones needed to keep me sane. I still find myself mourning over losses, tired when I wake, and fearful of failing. My anxiety doesn’t always take the best of me, but I’ve learned to adapt with this parasite that lingers. In hopes to one day fulfill someone else’s understanding and will to move forward.
