Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Jeffries.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born and raised in South Florida to 2 music-loving parents. Neither could play, but they really dug. Recording and playing live throughout the Miami area during my teens, and early ’20s was pretty much all I did. A few tours around the southeast later, I decided to move to New York City. After a few years there, the trek out west seemed best…to manifest the dest ya know? Been in LA for a little over three years. Currently enjoying it here, a lot.
Please tell us about your art.
The goal is to tell stories through song. Without drifting too far into the different musical genres I like to encompass and focusing more on weaving the right story- the lyrical concentration has become my strong-suit. At our cores, we all tic & tock the same, trying to find that sweet spot of relativity is the code to crack. I admire some decorated wordplay and poetic symbolism, that’s a goal. When people hear a lyric of mine, I hope they think too long about it. When someone hears a melody I wrote, hopefully, they memorize it in no time, it crawls in and just stays.
Ultimately, I hope the song is on repeat. That would be nice.
Performing is fun too. But lately, I care more about the writing and less about the energy of a room.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Not really, to be frank. It’s a constant battle, even when the money comes… inevitably, it will go. So, being smart with it when it comes and believing you can make it grow. Entitlement can be an enemy, so earn it. Use working at a coffee shop or a food truck or something like that to squash your expectations and inspire your content.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
All the outlets ya know? Youtube, Instagram, Facebook.
www.jacobjeffries.com is my website, but I forgot about that until just now, so… not the MOST effective, ha.
