Meet Jack Lightsy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Lightsy.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Raised in a performing arts/athletics family. Acting/performing arts at age 14. Full football scholarship at UCLA at age 17. Injury ended sports. Got highly successful medical sales job after earning college degree from UCLA.

Returned to full commitment to performing arts. Unplanned pregnancy made me a 24/7 single dad.

Took clinical specialist position(vascular surgery) while continuing to pursue the arts AND raising my son.

Received CLIO Award and enjoyed some success as a commercial actor.

Started to volunteer with Prison Fellowship Ministries, visiting prisons, writing and performing skits and mini-productions.

Created a faith-based production company(Jack Lightsy Productions, Inc.). Started writing music and theatrical work…Over 60 copyrights to date.

In 1998, joined a boys mentorship program (Rites of Passage Mentor Program). Currently serve as Program Director.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect? Can you share some of the main challenges?
Father was diagnosed with end-stage diabetes at age 37. I was age 11. 

👉🏽Death of close high school friend; (may seem minor, but not to me, and her mother who 👉🏽needed consoling).

Father died. I was age 25.

Unplanned pregnancy at age 29.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a reluctant, multiple platform writer. Songwriter credits, music composition, playwright (12 stage plays).

I have minor television and film credits. Many A-List commercial actor credits.

Writer/Director body of work in the LA community theater has established a solid fanbase.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
A sincere, loving, humanitarian spirit.
