Meet Jack Conway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Conway.

Jack, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I played piano growing up but quickly quit as it “wasn’t cool” to a sports guy like myself. As the years passed, with a little influence from my brother, I picked it back up and started to teach myself before entering high school. As a football player my whole life, I didn’t pick up guitar, singing or songwriting until I was 18/19 when I went off to college. I started to practice and write for 6-8 hours a day (yes, skipping class)… it was like an addiction; I couldn’t get enough.

Coming out to LA for the first time when I was 18, I met some incredibly talented people and was then signed to an independent label by 20. While it was a great experience, it didn’t end up resulting the way my artist career was heading. Without divulging too much information, I ended up not writing music for two years. I finally reached out to my buddy to write over FaceTime and this began to pull me out of my rut. I move three times in one year, finally ending up in LA here in 2019.

Since landing, I have just wrapped up production on an EP (releasing 2020) and have been continuing to write with other artists.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road the whole time. While growing up in a family of seven kids, the opinion of “you can’t make money being a musician” definitely played a large influence in my life. Especially, because I love my family. As mentioned, when I signed to an independent label, it didn’t result in the most positive way. Avoiding music for two years – not writing, singing or playing, it took quite a bit to pick myself back up.

Fortunately, I started writing with an amazing friend over FaceTime while I was living in Indiana, San Francisco and Cleveland in 2018/2019…. all before finally quitting corporate jobs and coming to LA.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am most proud of the diversity within my music songwriting. While my artist project aligns in the pop realm – think Charlie Puth, Shawn Mendes or Jonas Brothers, I also write for other artists all the time. In doing so, there is no limitation of genre I reach into – country, rock, urban, pop, etc.

What sets me apart from others is not just the impact I make with my own music, but also with other artists & their music.

By bringing out the best of in each and every artist, keeping authenticity involved in each writing session/song, the result is high responsibility of self and communication through the song. There are so many talented singers and musicians out there. The music that is the “best” is what communicates to us… meaning that it lands and resonates.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is continuing to overcome obstacles every day. There is no limitation on my dreams/aspirations. #1’s on the Billboard Chart, Grammy Awards, International Tours – selling out stadiums, etc.

But simultaneously – giving back to communities, starting non-profits for underprivileged children and the list goes on. All in all, success is being accountable to myself and delivering the absolute best I can day in and day out. And only know if I am truly doing that.
